Irrfan to take haircutting lessons for ‘Billo Barber’

Apna Aasman - Irrfan Khan - 19.jpgMumbai, July 6 (IANS) Actor Irrfan Khan plays the title role in Priyadarshan’s “Billo Barber” and says he will learn the art of haircutting from a roadside barber to make his character look real. “Not hair styling, mind you. I didn’t want to learn the barber’s art from some posh salon in a seven-star hotel. That kind of haircutting I know already. I’ve done it to my kids. The bona fide barbers hold the scissors in a different manner and the way they hold the customer’s hair is different,” Irrfan told IANS. (more…)

Navjot Sidhu’s wife in hospital after poisoning

Patiala, July 6 (IANS) Cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife has been admitted to a private hospital in this Punjab city following poisoning and dehydration. Doctors at the Sadhbhavna hospital said it was not known whether Navjot Kaur had attempted suicide or it was a case of food poisoning. (more…)

In fact, he is happy to let his illustrious ‘maamu’ do all the talking for his debut film “Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na”. “I’m not shy but I take time to get comfortable with people…I was happy letting Aamir maamu do all the speaking. I also knew people would start making comparisons between us regardless of whether we were seen together or not. When the comparisons are inevitable, what’s the point worrying about it? Changing Tibet showcased through the looking glass

New Delhi, July 5 (IANS) A five-day festival of Tibetan documentary and feature films that began at the Indian International Centre here Saturday offers viewers a glimpse of the complex mosaic that makes up the land of the exiled Dalai Lama. Stripped of the usual inaugural trappings, the festival, organised by the Foundation for Universal Responsibility opened with the screening of the “The Lion’s Roar”, a classic portrait of the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, one of the most revered spiritual figures in Tibet. Tamil film body poll acquires political colour

Chennai, July 5 (IANS) The elections to the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) acquired political colours Saturday as the two main groups traded charges against each other. The elections are scheduled for Sunday. Openly backed by the ruling DMK, director K. Ramanarayanan, incumbent president of the body and a contestant, appealed for votes from all concerned if the Tamil film industry wanted continuance of subsidies from the state government, doyens of tinsel town told IANS.
