Mumbai, Aug 5 (IANS) Bollywood veteran Manoj Kumar Tuesday filed a case in a city court against the TV premiere of Farah Khan’s “Om Shanti Om”, an advocate said. Kumar’s advocate Ashok Saraogi said Tuesday that they have filed a case against the TV premiere of the film on a television channel Aug 10. Saraogi said the hearing of the case will be held Wednesday afternoon at Dindoshi Court, Goregaon. (more…)

Mumbai, Aug 5 (IANS) Cricketer, commentator, MP, comedy show judge and now an actor. Navjot Singh Sidhu will be seen on silver screen as he debuts in a Punjabi movie in September. Sidhu’s debut movie, “Mera Pind” (My Home), in Punjabi will be releasing Sept 5. In keeping with his political persona, his role in the movie is that of a do-gooder. He plays a non-resident Indian, who returns to India for good. He tries to uplift the village folks of Punjab, exhorting them to be entrepreneurs in their own homeland rather than aspiring to show off their entrepreneurship abroad. (more…)

Mumbai, Aug 5 (IANS) Preity Zinta, who is currently touring with the Bachchans on their ‘Unforgettable’ tour, plans to join Deepa Mehta in Toronto for screening of “Heaven On Earth”. The Punjabi film is now being dubbed into Hindi on the insistence of the film’s Indian distributor Ravi Chopra. “Preity will have to do her portions in Toronto after her world tour with the Bachchans and also attend the Toronto Festival screening,” said the Canada-based director. Bhopal, Aug 5 (IANS) In an honour to film actor Manoj Kumar, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to institute a Rs 100,000 award in his name. The state government will also recommend Kumar’s name for Bharat Ratna to the central government. The announcement was made by the state’s Cultural Minister Laxmikant Sharma while presenting the National Kishore Kumar Award for 2007-08 to Manoj Kumar for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, an official release said Tuesday.
