Abhishek says NO to a Yash Raj film
Abhishek Bachchan has declined to do a Yash Raj project. This project in question was the Rani Mukherjee – Shahid Kapoor starrer which has cricket as the underlying theme.
Our source revealed, “Abhishek was offered a small but significant role in the Yash Raj banner project the shooting for which has already begun now. He had earlier done a cameo in their Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007) so it was taken for granted that he would say yes. But Abhishek left everyone surprised by turning down the role citing date clashes. But the real reason was he didn’t want to repeat the Laaga Chunari Mein Daag mistake of doing a small role where he has nothing much to do. His career has taken a severe beating with the Drona debacle and he cannot afford any more mistakes now. Like LCMD, this film doesn’t even pair him up with Rani so he took the safe route out of dates excuse rather than offending the Chopras. The makers are now in a desperate lookout for a top star who would be willing to star in their film as the next schedule begins in January.”
Incidentally Abhishek has done quiet a number of special appearances earlier with most of them being for his good friends in the industry. His cameo roles list includes films like Mission Istaanbul, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, Shootout At Lokhandwala, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Ek Ajanabi and Salaam Namaste.
