RU BA RU Movie Review: Poetic Romance and Deja Vu

The most unreliable thing in life is life itself. This, the protagonist of this sweet little concoction discovers when he wakes up one morning to find that his live-in girlfriend, perfect in manner and devotion, might have to die. A simple premise based on the theory of déjà vu, “Ru-Ba-Ru” derives its slender strength from the conversational tone that the the debutant director brings to the romantic comedy, a genre that remains largely over-used and under-sensitised in Hindi cinema, thanks to the florid dialogues, over-the-top performances and incessant flow of song-dance. Glorious, extravagant and simply awesome is what you feel when you see the movie ‘Jodhaa Akbar’! It was the most fervently awaited films in 2007-08. An Ashutosh Gowariker movie that had much to say in the trailers has definitely something to show. Ashutosh Gowariker has managed pretty well to give us an imperial treat this time. He has given two more surprise packs like ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Swadesh’. He also proved his understanding of the very sensitive historical issues. He seems to not mind the rave reviews and attacks that he received on his movie, rather, he has made his point clear. History can have different faces to show, it all depends on you to like or dislike it. (more…)

If by certain chance, you don’t have anything to do and you are lucky enough to stumble upon some free tickets, then I would suggest going for this movie. Also, if you are badly in need of watching some catharsis and break loose your tears that you have been stocking up till now, then you might like to go to the theatre to shed some tears.
