Very bluntly he replied that as of now, there wasn’t any role for Malaika but there are chances of her performing a dance number that too, if the director of the film feels so, and if Malaika is ok with it. But an honest confession from him was that he would love to have Malaika as a part of his first production.

“Ever since she joined us she worked efficiently and patiently with Arhaan, his previous nanny had to leave the job because of health reasons, I always felt whether my son would ever be able to adjust to his new nanny, as his previous one was there since he was 4 months old. But to our surprise Arhaan had taken well to her and she loved taking care of him as well. This new nanny’s name is Jackin Fernandes and she hails from Belgaum in Karnataka, she’s married has a 6 year old daughter. Her husband Raymond Fernandes works as a welder cum fabricator in Dubai since last 10 years. Jackin, in the last one year has travelled with us to a number of places including Dubai and Singapore. This time we took her along with us to London too, we began to trust her completely, only for her to shatter all our faith and trust in her in one second.” Arbaaz recalls in his blog update.

He continues, “Just two days before Malaika was returning, Jackin was with the kids in a nearby park, she was also entrusted with the apartment keys. That day she left for the apartment on the pretext of getting a jacket for my son Arhaan, as it had got a bit nippy but dint return. Malaika kept calling the phone she was given but there was no answer. When Malaika went to the apartment to check, there was nobody there, Jackin’s phone was lying on the ground and she was nowhere in sight. Malaika panicked. She noticed Jackin’s suitcase was also not there; her passport had been kept with us safely in another bag under lock and key. When she opened the bag she saw Jackin’s passport missing, it soon became evident that Jackin had left. There were valuables and some money too lying in the bag but she stole nothing, all she wanted to do is get away and she had meticulously planned it. My maid is not the first one to vanish in London, apparently even Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and recently Juhi Chawla also faced a similar situation, each of these maids left without a trace. It obviously seems to be modus operandi of these people to use the opportunity to believe they have a better life in a foreign country, but at what risk. Since Jackin was given a visa because we sponsored her visit, we had to inform the police of the happening. Unfortunately this illegal immigrant situation is rampant in London. We have provided all the necessary details to the authorities, if she ever gets tracked down she will surely be deported, but I guess not before she has worked there long enough and made the money she desired. She was a good worker and took great care of Arhaan as long as she was there.”

“Though Malaika and me are upset with what happened we still wish her well and hope she’s safe and happy where ever she is.” Arbaaz concludes.

These complementary words from the ‘dancing diva’ were the most mellifluous for newcomer Gayatri, who has earlier been termed a ‘dancing tornado’ by her National Award-winning director Aarif Sheikh.

Prefixes apart, the music launch saw Smilie Suri, Shaad Randhawa, director Manish Gupta and singing star Himesh Reshammiya gracing the occasion, as Siddharth Kanan anchored the event with wittiness personified (he had the audience in splits with his wise cracks).

The other cast and crew of the film including Ajay Chaudhary, Sugandha Garg, Asif Basra, Abhaas Yadav, Nikuunj Padaya, Paras Arora and Anjan Srivastav was also present.

Having music by Vipin Mishra and another National Award winner Tarali Sharma, her movie’s songs have been choreographed by none other than Longinus Fernandes (of “Jai Ho”-‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and “Pappu Can’t Dance Saala”-‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na’ fame), Rajiv Goswami (of ‘Veer-Zaara’ and ‘Dhoom’ fame), Pappu-Malu (of ‘Saawariya’ fame) and the evergreen Saroj Khan.

The US-born-and-bred Gayatri, has done jazz, hip-hop, filmy, Kathak and Natwari dancing in the film. She plays a simple but determined dance teacher, who on her path to fame, changes course, to motivate a group of underprivileged kids. Gayatri is trained in Kathak and is also a pro at Yoga. A lethal combination this, it helps her attempt the most daring dance steps, breath-taking whirls and swirls and some awesome splits.

Besides Malaika Arora Khan other celebrities who attended to wish the debutant Gayatri Patel, Ajay Chaudhary, Aquib Afzal (county cricket player in UK) and the director Aarif Sheikh were Himesh Reshamiya, Smilie Suri, Shaad Randhawa, Manish Gupta, Longines Fernandes and Anjan Shrivastav. Show was anchored by Siddharth Kannan, who kept everybody in splits with his impromptu one liners.

Producer Dr. Arvind Patel launched the music in sync with the soul of the film ‘Lets Dance’. Along with six dancers, the lead actress Gayatri Patel performed live on the medley of four songs from her debut film. This dance was choreographed by Rajiv Goswami of Veer-Zaara and Dhoom fame and encompasses jazz, hip-hop, popular and kathak dance forms. In fact the current dancing diva Malaika Arora Khan called Gayatri Patel dancing diva of next generation. Singer Kirti Sagathia also rendered his soft romantic melody Tumse Iqraar showinh his full voice range.

While David Dhawan found her acting to be impressive and according to Saroj Khan Bollywood can not ignore Gayatri, Sharmila Tagore found her dancing to be very graceful. “I love dancing since I was a child of 6 years. Mujhe naachne ka sirf ek bahaana chahiye. I performed in many stage shows in USA and then in India too, I got a chance to showcase my dancing in the three music videos I did with Venus. But this film and my director Aarif Sheikh has really given me the chance to explore my talent. I loved every moment of this film,” comments the pretty actress Gayatri Patel, who loves the dance ballet and style of dancing diva Vyjayantimala. Let’s dance has two male leads Ajay Chaudhary and Aquib Afzal along with an array of child artistes.

The event had a brilliant performance by the Blind Man’s Band – a band in which every member is blind, accompanied by Vijay Prakash, the critically acclaimed singer of songs like Manmohini from the movie Yuvraaj. Mind-blowing acts and audio visuals showed the audience how blind and deaf children can recognise currency and people, and can operate the computer, travel in local trains and change platforms without any help, have jobs in offices… all this without being able to see, hear or speak!

The enthralling performances by Shiamak Davar himself who not only danced but sang straight from his heart, soulful acts by Riteish Deshmukh and Mallaika Arora Khan and energetic performances by Hrishita Bhatt and Gen-Next of Bollywood, Shubh left the audience wanting for more. However, the show- stoppers were undoubtedly the Helen Keller Institute children who had the talent and drive and got an opportunity to prove that `We Can’!

The audience was left literally awe-struck by a never seen before gymnastic performance by Raj Bhasvar, the Indian American who won a gold medal in the gymnastics category for the USA in the Beijing Olympics of 2009.

Shiamak not only surpassed himself with the heart rendering tribute act from the much-acclaimed film Black, but also moved the audience to tears.

The audience had eminent personalities from all walks of life come together to support this cause. Among them were, theatre guru Alyque Padamsee with wife Sharon and his daughter. Shaina NC was seen rpt in attention with and the Hon Home Minister of Maharashtra, Jayant Patil his wife Shailaja, incidentally whose birthday it also was. As a warm gesture, the audience wished her a happy birthday in true Helen Keller style –in sign language. Vikram Phadnis too came along to witness this unique triumph of the Human Spirit. Ex-SDIPA student RJ Tarana kept the audience engaged. Roopali Ganguli came and made her presence felt by personally meeting each one from Shiamaks team and telling them what a wonderful experience it was.

Moved with the response the people had to her children, Beroz Vacha, the founder member of the Helen Keller Institute stated, “These children are not limited, it’s us who are limited in our thinking. They do not need our pity, they need an opportunity. We are very thankful to Shiamak, Showstuff and Provogue and all the others involved who have taken it up to create these pioneering opportunities and create the awareness which is the need of the hour!”

Rani Mukerjee too was seen after a long gap at any event and her weight loss training sessions seems to have done wonders or may be the long string of flops has done its damage on her health. For a minute we could not recognize that it was Rani. She as usual avoided speaking to the media and rushed off when we tried getting a sound byte from her. It was also after a long time we saw Bobby come along with wife Tanya Deol.
