Anand, who had served as Pakistan’s censor board chairman, was kidnapped Oct 20 last year by two unidentified gunmen while he was on his way home.

According to The News, law enforcement agencies traced the kidnappers to Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and engaged in a negotiation for his release. They reportedly belong to a faction of the Harkat-ul-Jihad-i-Islami (HuJI), in NWFP’s Bannu region, the report said. The HuJI group is reportedly headed by Ilyas Kashmiri, had earlier demanded a huge ransom for releasing Anand. However they later settled for Rs.10.6 million.

On Saturday, officials posing as family members of the film producer delivered the ransom money to the kidnappers. After safely securing Anand, the officials launched a crackdown on the group and arrested five suspects.

The enthusiasm of the finalists was quite high and SRK fulfilled the dream of angels to dance with him and he even made Sourav Ganguly dance with him on Korbo Lorbo Jetbo the song for KKR. Both the movies have debutant directors. Victory is directed by Ajitpal Mangat and Luck by Chance is directed by Zoya Aktar. Obviously the films are much highlighted and have a great back up by their producers who share a great

On one hand is Victory supported by renowned cricketers like Brett Lee, Harbhajan Singh, Murlitharan etc while Harman Baweja and Amrita Rao are the leads of the film. Luck by Chance is a multi starrer film which includes Farhan Aktar, Hrithik Roshan, Juhi Chawla, Rishi Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma, Dimple Kapadia, Isha Sharvani etc. The film also features a special song starring many Bollywood actors actress including Shah Rukh and Aamir, but in different frames, off course.

The music of Victory is given by Anu Malik. The songs have unfortunately taken an ‘average’ backseat. Shankar-Eshaan-Loy have catered to the music of Luck by Chance which has been quite liked by the people it seems.

The story of Victory is clear by its promos which are on air. The movie centers around cricket and Harman is playing a batsman trying to prove his skills for his country. While Luck by Chance is a story about struggling and slogging it out to survive in the ‘glamour and film’ Industry. Farhan Aktar plays the main lead in the film as a struggler.

So will it be cricket which will ‘bat’ its way out and hit a sixer across the boundary to the Indian audience or will it be Bollywood’s strugglers who will finally pave their way towards what we all call as ‘superstar’.

The character she plays is that of Minty Rolly, a producer played by Rishi Kapoor’s wife.

Juhi was required to do something unique and that’s why she decided to experiment with her hair color, something she has never done before. She colored her hair blonde!

She says, “When Zoya offered me the role I was extremely thrilled, even though I was told it was not a big role, I dint mind, it was different from all the other characters I have played before, and that was the most exciting part. Playing Minty was so much fun! And moreover I got to color my hair blonde, which also was something I had never done before.”

The film produced by Excel Entertainment in association with Big Pictures also stars Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Isha Sharvani, Sanjay Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Hrithik Roshan and is slated to release on the 30th of January 2009. It marks the directorial debut of Zoya Akhtar.

In fact an official statement from Sony confirms the same.

The statement says, “Sony has approached both Juhi and Bipasha but none has been signed. First it was the strike and then the unfortunate blasts that have put the formal proceedings of the show off track. In fact the show was supposed to be launched in February 2009 but looks like that too will get pushed ahead.”

But the next twist in the tale is that Bipasha Basu has made it clear that she will only do the show if Juhi is not on the panel. Apparently, the Bong Babe doesn’t want the limelight to be shared!

The group has purportedly written an email stating that Muslim actors must stop working in films immediately or face death. The email was received Sunday, a day after 21 blasts killed 50 people and injured 200 in Gujarat’s main city Ahmedabad.

Prashant Pandey, writer of Ram Gopal Varma’s “Contract”, an action thriller that released last week and is said to be uncannily similar to how the Ahmedabad blasts played out, said it was unfortunate if actors were being targeted in the name of religion.

“An actor has no religion. One cannot categorise an actor on that basis. His persona is different as an individual both on and off-screen,” Pandey told IANS. Renowned director Aziz Mirza, whose “Kismat Konnection” has just been released, said terrorists must be cold shouldered.

“The terrorists are stupid guys. You don’t react to them. You just negate them. They can do whatever they want. Nobody listens to mad dogs. Nobody in the industry will give a reaction.” According to Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, people were “shocked but the producers, writers, directors or even the actors have not issued any statement on this yet”.

Describing the threats as “very sad and very unfortunate”, Adarsh said: “At the moment, there have been no official reports in the industry. What do actors have to do with the attacks? It is a free country and one has the right to do whatever she or he wants to.”

Actor-turned-filmmaker Sanjay Khan, a Muslim by religion, refused to comment on the threats and just said: “I think this is a media created hype and it is completely blowing matters out of proportion. I don’t want to contribute and give more air to this (issue). There is no threat to Bollywood so far as all of this is concerned.”

Filmmaker Jagmohan Mundra, whose next release “Shoot on Sight” is a film on international terrorism, added: “Indian Muslims have not been associated with terrorist activities till date and if some of them have started taking part in such activities, then it is really sad for our country.

“India has always been a secular country and Bollywood has always advocated its secular character. A warning by a handful of people will definitely not matter to the industry.”

Others refused to talk.

Actress Juhi Chawla and choreographer-director Farah Khan, both close associates of Shah Rukh, declined to comment on the threat. Veteran actress and Saif Ali Khan’s mother Sharmila Tagore did not respond on being contacted either. Shah Rukh also did not react to any calls or messages on the issue.
