Kailash Kher, Nikhil Chinappa at Rock on with MTV show press meet in MTV Office on 21st July 2009.

His previous two albums were record-sellers. He also has many super hit Bollywood numbers to his credit. Kailash shares the significance of this album in an interview.

Tell us about your new album?
It consists of eight songs based on love and romance. Music is composed by Paresh and Naresh, my other band members. Even Kawa Brass Band has the key role in making of this album.

What is new in this album?
In this album we have not used any electronic instrument but Indian traditional instruments like Morchang, Ektara, Chimta, Kartaal, Mandolin, Saaz, Ud, Bagal-Bachcha, Ravan Hatha etc. So I call it an organic album. Also it’s happening for the first time that any Indian singer has launched the album along with other international artistes. I dedicate this album to my father who is no more.

Which is your favourite song from the album?
I like all the songs in this album. But the song ‘Piya Ghar Aaweinge’ is close to my heart because I wrote the song after my father’s death.

Tell us about video song in the album?
‘O Jee’ is the video song shot in the holy city Pushkar in Rajasthan. Rajat Nagpaal has done a brilliant job.

What do you have to say about usage of unique words in your songs?
I have grown singing bhajan’s of st. Kabir, st. Raidas and Guru Nanak. So even I try using good words in my songs. These words are not out of this world, it is very much Hindustani, Alas! This generation cannot understand.

Which is the most memorable live show?
I was performing in Washington for ‘Pakistani Doctors Association’. I decided not to perform ‘Bagad Bum’, as it is sung in the praise of lord Shiva but I was taken by surprise when audience requested me to perform it. After the performance they started hooting, once more…once more…I did perform again for them.

Celebrities laugh their ‘Ice’ off. The special screening of Fox Star Studios India’s highly awaited ‘Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs’ that is releasing this Friday was marked by an enthusiastic turn out by various celebrities.

The screening was held in 3D at Fame in Malad on Wednesday. One of the first ones to arrive was singer Kailash Kher with his fiancé and a group of friends. Soon walked in Bakhtiyar Irani with his little baby boy, while Mama Tanaz joined them a while later.

Ranvir Shorey walked in with Konkana Sen who was looking uber cool in her yellow Lucknowi salwaar.

Also seen were TV actors Narayani Shastri with a friend, Gaurav Chopra minus girlfriend Mouni Roy, Chetan Hansraj with his wife and kids, Apoorva Agnihotri with wife Shilpa and Rakesh Paul with his wife.

Deepshikha, JD Majethia, Deven Bhojani & Aatish Kapadia were all seen having a great time as their kids enjoyed through the movie.

Singer Shibani Kashyap made it in the nick of time looking pretty in a multi coloured dress. Bakul Thakkar walked in pretty late but was excited about catching up with the remaining of the film.

While Harmeet from the ‘Meet Brothers’ duo came with a friend, brother Manmeet came with wife Karishma and good friend Kishwar Merchant.

Celebrity stylist Aalim Hakim came with his nephew and a couple of friends.

Slumdog actors Tanay Cheda and Tanvi were visibly excited about catching on their favourite flick.

As the crowd poured out for some popcorn during the interval, everyone was taken for a surprise when one of their favourite Ice Age characters ‘Scrat’ walked in with his beloved ‘acron’ (nut).

The crowds went berserk with excitement and everyone was trying to give a hug to Scrat & pose for a snap with him!

Everyone in the theatre was heard laughing their ‘Ice’ off as the 3D experience enhanced the fun and excitement of watching one of the best animation movies ever!

“He will be seen in this weekend episode of SA RE GA MA PA L’il Champs as guest judge. Not only had the permanent judges but kids also enjoyed his presence in the show,” informs our informer from the sets.

Elaborating on the presence of this singer our source adds, “He loved seeing and hearing these little wonders and could not stop himself from singing too. He sang one of the chirpy numbers from his latest album.”

Kailesh was quite impressed with the chote hosts of the show too. “He was impressed with Afsha Musani, the way she talked and gave good replies to the boy’s team. She is just 6 years old but very spontaneous,” concludes the source.

After the super-successful albums ‘Kailasa’ and ‘Kailasa Jhoomo Re’, Kailash Kher is back with a bang. His 3rd album – ‘Kailasa Chaandan Mein’ – hits the stores on 19th June’09.

The music of “Kailasa Chaandan Mein” continues the rich and soulful tradition of ‘Kailasa’ and ‘Jhoomo Re’ and enhances the flavour with the use of traditional and unique instruments in this new album.

The album was unveiled before the media by showcasing its breath-taking title video – “Chaandan Mein”. Shot in beautiful locales of Pushkar, Rajasthan, the video captures the emotions of the title track, threaded by multiple stories with a beautiful ending complimenting it impeccably with its realism and a rugged landscape

A visibly excited Kailash Kher said, “It takes a lot to create a song. Every tune, every word that we put into a song is a result of painstaking effort of my band members Naresh and Paresh, Kurt Peters (acoustic drums), Sanket (percussion), Shanky (violin, maadal), Tapas Roy (rebaab, saaz,mendolin, oodh). Hence imagine creating an album with 8 such songs. However its all worth it when you see people just lost into the songs you have created – when our music touches their lives, and their souls. The lyrics of the album have words from dialects of places that people from the cities watch in magazines and documentaries and call rural. However, I find words from these rural dialects like ‘Khadi-Boli’, are much more efficient in portraying the expression of ambience and feel that I want to convey through our songs…“Chaandan Mein” is the most emotional and intense album we have ever created and hence it’s the closest to our hearts. We hope it is the same to our fans too.”

The album was created in the melodic environs of ‘Kailasa Studio’ by Kailash along with his team of Paresh Kamath and Naresh Kamath.

“This is an organic album with the maximum use of acoustics instruments. Not a single instrument you will hear in this album is electronically generated. If we wanted a sound of an instrument – that instrument has been brought in from the sands of Rajasthan to the jungles of Africa”

This is the 3rd album which Kailash Kher – along with his band Kailasa – has released with Sony Music.

Anu Malik must know by now that whenever he is away everybody has a ball — at his expense. Kailash Kher brought along a cut out of Annu Malek and mimicked his comments. Javed Akhtar added his own brand of humor to the proceedings. Even Hussain and Chang did not miss the opportunity to have fun at his expense. Sonu Nigam mimicked him. But Sonali got the once in a lifetime chance to do what she always wanted to do… put a tape across Annu Malek’s mouth! So what if she did it to his cut out! Chang worried about what Annu would do to them when he watches the episode, said: “He will chew us alive!” “We’ll put the tape across his mouth then, and he will not be able to chew us!” added Hussain. This year Teacher’s Achievement Awards bestow special honor to P.R.
