Should we, as ‘aam junta’, at the least do our bit by refusing to fall pray to piracy lest it comes back to kill us? Shouldn’t we make sure that we spread awareness about this menace that is not just making quite a few jobless but also indirectly facilitating mass murder? Bollywood pleads yet again to support this case and this time around, it is looking at not just safeguarding the ones impacted within the industry but also the common man!

It is great to see Mumbai reacting to the blast with movements such as the ones seen at the Gateway of India. But this is not all. The information about how money from piracy funds terror should be made available to people so that they are educated around how they themselves are getting impacted. Around the issue of buying pirated movies, my point is that there has to be a curb on having these copies come out. At the end of the day, when you see a movie right in front of you, it is a huge temptation. You see it on the streets, on the web. Why is that allowed? You can tell people not to have drugs but if it is served on the platter, how would you resist not trying it out? Same holds good for movies too.

Otherwise to think of it, it is a one day’s job for all us to just come together and approach the CM’s office to let him be made aware about the issue. Samit finds a perfect sex goddess in his hot, aerobics instructor Kaya (Payal) and even moves in with her to experience some real action. The couple’s mutual separation prompts the seemingly perfect couple Rishi (Bose) and Simi (Konkona) to take a re-look at their marriage. They too end up realizing that there is nothing called a ‘perfect relationship’.

Rishi, a pseudo intellectual professor, secretly fantasises about his young, attractive student Raga, while she too seems to be falling over for him. Whereas the over critical columnist Simi has some secret sexual desires of her own that she never quite confronts. Just at the same time, Simi encounters handsome art director Veer (Rahul Khanna), also recovering from a broken relationship and ends up falling for him. But Veer on the other hand falls for the lonely Mita. All this love vs. lust dilemma ends up complicating things further which leads the couples to analyse their priorities.

With the entire premise copied from Woody Allen’s Husbands and Wives, Dil Kabaddi fits in and is quiet identifiable for uptown couple’s in the Indian metros. The whole infidelity angle will somehow not be accepted by small town crowds. In metros people somehow have started getting into the mindset that infidelity in marriages is somewhat taken for granted in today’s time.

While the film stays away from being preachy and judgemental about certain taboo things and talks, the final impact is just about okay. Without taking itself and its characters seriously, the film keeps chugging along despite a non-existent story line. In a way it tries to incorporate the same kind of humour derived from characters talking into the camera as if having a conversation with their audience just like Pyar Ke Side Effects.

Irrfan is the life of the movie and though his role somewhere appears very similar to Life In A Metro, he stands out amongst the huge crowd of actors. Rahul Bose too after a spate of flops and bad performances is back in his element and is in top form. Soha Ali Khan doesn’t look one bit uncomfortable in a role that goes completely against her image. Konkona is average though.

Rahul Khanna appears too stiff and ends up being the odd man out. Newcomer Saba Azad is a complete natural. Payal does a lot of skin display but fails to act and ends up shrieking throughout the movie!

Apart from some really good performances the film’s other plusses are its fantastic camera movements, the perfectly in-sync background score, appealing cinematography and some good production values.

Amongst the five films released this week, Dil Kabaddi is the best choice to pick up from if you are left confused. So what are you waiting for, go enjoy this game.

As young gun Ashutosh Kaushik is declared the winner of ‘Bigg Boss’, there is a numerology theory that has been stamped. “There are times, the public helps participants win a reality show. There are times good PR helps boost their case. There are times the on-screen frivolities propel them into limelight. And then there are times, when ‘calculations’ show them as clear winners. Though Ashutosh Kaushik had the votes in place, and a good dose of the glamorous Diana Hayden for company, we should not forget that he was also ‘destined’ to win,” states PR specialist Dale Bhagwagar.

Bhagwagar says, Sangghvi has well-analyzed how the science of numbers has played a key role in this small town boy Ashutosh’s success. Here goes Bhavikk Sangghvi’s theory.

Ashutosh is born on October 2, 1979, which makes him a Number 2 in numerology ruled by Moon (Number 2) and Neptune (Number 7). Numbers 2 and 7 always go hand in hand. He is a Libran (which means, he is ruled by Numbers 6 and 8 – Venus and Saturn) and his destiny number adds up to Number 2 (Moon again). (2 + 1 + 0 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 9 = 29 = 2 + 9 = 11 = 1 + 1 = 2 ). This, in simple words, means, Ashutosh is ruled by Numbers 2 and 7, not once, but twice. Which is ‘twice’ as good!

According to numerology, Numbers 2 and 7 are both soft planets, signifying peace, love, harmony, warmth and affection. It is very
likely that people just loved Ashutosh’s innocence and honesty on the show and thus voted for him in large numbers.

Furthermore, according to Sangghvi, technically, Ashutosh entered the ‘Bigg Boss’ house as an inmate in his 29th year (before his birthday) and came out a winner in his 30th year (after his birthday). Priyanka Chopra plays Abhishek’s bodyguard in “Drona” and tries to save him from evil in the film.

In one of the sequences, she had to ride a horse and no one on the sets knew that she has a phobia for horses. She got very nervous seeing the horse on the sets.

“Since the day we started the shooting of ‘Drona’, Priyanka was very confident about her action and fighting scenes. She was very confident until we started shooting for this scene where she was supposed to ride a horse. She suddenly got very edgy with the idea of riding a horse and that was when we realised that Priyanka was actually scared of horses,” said director Goldie Behl.

But Priyanka overcame her fear and gave the shot.

“The horse sequence was very prominent for the scene. After a creative discussion, she actually shot for the entire sequence. Once the camera rolled, no one could make out that she was scared and she shot like a pro,” said Behl.

Cross dressed boy fantasises about Bipasha in ‘Pankh’

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu plays the alter ego of a cross dressed boy who fantasises about her in “Pankh”.

Bipasha will be seen as the alter ego of 20-year-old protagonist Jerry, played by debutant Maradona Rebello.

Explaining the complexity of the story, director Sudipto Chattopadhyay said: “Bipasha is Jerry’s fantasy and exists only in his mind. She is his alter ego and loves to provoke him at the drop of a hat.”

“Jerry’s character is very complex. The film shows him as a famous child artiste. He cross-dresses as a girl for his roles and is confused about his identity. There is also a song in the film where he fantasises about Bipasha seducing him, creating confusion in his mind about his real identity.

“He doesn’t know whether he is a man, woman or a eunuch. Bipasha is his only solace from the ugly reality of life,” added Chattopadhyay.

Sanjay Gupta is producing this film. It stars actors like Lilette Dubey and Mahesh Manjrekar.

Payal Rohatgi’s mother misses her on Daughter’s Day

Item girl Payal Rohatgi, who is currently participating in the second season of TV reality show “Bigg Boss”, is being missed by her mother on Daughter’s Day.

Payal will be unable to meet her mother on Daughter’s Day, which is on Sunday, as she is locked up in the “Bigg Boss” house on the outskirts of Mumbai.

“We miss her terribly and wish her well and want her to know how precious she is to us. A son is a son till he gets a wife, but a daughter is daughter for life,” Payal’s mother said.

Payal’s parents have always celebrated the day by making it special for her by showering her with gifts and pampering her.

According to sources, Payal who has been denying any link with Rahul off late, recently hosted a party for him at a five-star hotel here. The party, which was a personal affair, was attended by select guests and the media was not invited.

When asked about the party, Payal was not willing to disclose any details. “It was a personal affair. I would not like to say anything about it,” Payal told IANS Friday. However, one of the invitees at the party said: “Both of them played the perfect hosts and looked like a couple.”

Reports say Rahul and Payal have been friends for more than six years. But their closeness increased ever since Rahul’s relations with his wife took an ugly turn. However, a few common friends now blame Payal for the strained relations between Rahul and his wife.

“I don’t want to discuss personal life. It is completely my personal affair and I would not like to comment on it,” said Payal, who was seen in films like “Corporate”, “36 China Town”, “Dhol”.

Sources say in recent times, Rahul and Payal have been spotted in various places together and he is even planning to cast her in the lead in the first film under his production company Cine Vision. There were also reports that Rahul gifted Payal an imported car when her car was completely damaged in an accident.

Rahul married his old time friend Shweta Aug 29, 2006, months after Pramod Mahajan was shot dead by his own brother in his Mumbai home.

Later Rahul hit the headlines when he was hospitalised after an alleged incident of drug abuse. Pramod’s secretary Viveik Moitra died of drug overdose.
