“I remember Adhyayan was four years old when he came on the sets of my show Dekh Bhai Dekh and today he is playing the lead in the movie of the same title. We are playing father and son in the film,” stated Shekhar.

Talking about the story line of the film he adds, “It’s a love story; that’s all I can say. In the film too we share the rapport of friends more than son and father. Anand Mahendroo is directing and producing this film. He is competitive and sensitive director.”

On being asked, when the shooting of the film is going to start, the actor replied, “The shooting will start from September.”

Now only junta can decide of whether this baap-beta jodi will work on screen or not!!!

“It’s very important film of his career. He is 20 years old and is playing the character of a 24 year old. His role required the special kind of emotional strength and I was apprehensive that he would not be able to carry it off, but he pleasantly surprised me with his performance,” states Shekhar.

Jashn is all set for release on 17 July. “The character needed that kind of maturity and I doubted he had that, as he is far too young; but the way he has handled the role is one out of million,” adds the proud papa.

“When I watched him in the film, I couldn’t believe that he could handle such sensitive and intense role. We are very hopeful about this film and even the music has top rated on the chart buster,” he converse.

He has also given advice to his son on how he is supposed to go ahead in this industry. “I told Adhyayan that for an actor it shouldn’t be the question of life and death. He just needs to work hard and leave the fate of the film on audience. The hard work will definitely show its colours,” observed Shekhar.

He also talked about their personal rapport. “We are more like friends than just father-son. I do advice him on his career and personal life whenever he asks for,” he concludes.

Adhyayan must be going ga-ga parroting – My daddy is the bestest!

As per our khabroo from the sets, “He was supposed to reach by 2:30 pm on the sets, but called up and postponed the meeting for 3:00 pm but he never turned up.”

“After waiting for a really long time we got fed-up and finally called Adhyayan to inquire on the status of his arrival. His manager answered and said that the actor is not feeling well and won’t be able to come,” adds the source.

The other glaring absence was that of veteran director Mahesh Bhatt. No one has any idea on why these invitees didn’t turn up.

“We don’t know the exact reason of why he didn’t come,” summed-up our little birdie with a blank look and straight face.

The grand finale was an exciting evening with supporters cheering their teams with great gusto. The first place in the Corporate Go Karting Championship was clinched by Bangalore boy Nitin Y.K. from Aegis, while Vaibhav from TCS Mumbai came a close second. The second Runners Up was held by Kailash Shantilal from Ness Technologies from cyber city Hyderbad. The Championship offered the national winner and a companion a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of the Singapore Grand Prix and to meet up Force India Formula One team drivers. The first runner up received a ticket for 2 to London and the second runner up received a return ticket to anywhere in India, courtesy Kingfisher Airlines.

The fun filled afternoon saw the corporates in a new light where apart from the exciting race and cheering for their favorite teams they got a chance to enjoy a day out with the family. Remote control car games for Children ,Celebrities, loads of prizes and merchandise to be won, DJ music and a Live performances by Indian Idol winner Rahul Vaidya and acclaimed fusion band ‘Filter Coffee’ made this a event packed with entertainment. What added to the thrill of the evening was a celebrity race that saw the cast of Da Dating Truths try their tryst with speed. So the audience was enthralled to see the likes of Shekhar Suman, Gaurav Bajaj, Vikas Manaktala, Tarun Khanna, Karan Mehra doing laps of the grid in the karts and get a feel of what it takes to be a Formula One driver.

According to our sources, “Shekhar personally requested Sudesh Bhosle to voice the title track of the show”.

Bollywood and Tellywood nexus is sneaking in the new domain.

On concept…
Now-a-days people are so impatient and stressed out that if you ask anything to anyone he will give you tedha answer. In any talk show interviewer bears in mind that yeh khud ko bahut shana samajhta hai, mein abhi iski band bajata hun and interviewee thinks he is acting too smart, I will out smart him. So as to have the upper hand in the interview, both beat around the bush and after an hour we don’t even realise what was the interview all about.

On show…
In this show I am playing the characters who we meet in our day-today life. We have seen so many people around us who are intrinsically not funny but their eccentricity makes us laugh. Humour emerges out of their idiosyncrasies, peculiarities and seriousness. This is the most difficult show I have ever done as an actor.

On make up…
Make up is really painful but I give all the liberty to my make up artiste to completely hide Shekhar Suman in me. We don’t have budget to hire a Hollywood make up artiste but he shoves pipe in my nose, erect my ears with sticks or stuff cotton in my mouth to attain the perfect look of the character.

On characters…
I had to play 16 characters in a month and 52 characters in three months. Selection of character is followed by learning their expressions, mindset, psychology and diction, and above all donning the attire, gives me sleepless nights. My favorite characters are a Bengali guy who hurls shoes at people in functions and the Politician. I am open to audience, they can suggest me the characters they want to me to play in the show.

On Gurpaal…
He takes his job very seriously. I had seen him in Chhupa Rustom where he use to be so pokerfaced that nobody could doubt him; I don’t think anyone else could have done it so aptly. He is an ideal choice for the show. He never loses his cool, seldom he does but very much with in the decorum of TV show.

On reaction
I showed few episodes to my acquaintances and the best complement that I received was when they said, “Show is fantastic but isme aap kab aaye.”

On female character
It is tough to play a woman and I don’t think I am that great actor. We did think about female characters but as there are umpteen male characters to play, why to go in that domain. I would definitely play a beautiful woman once I attain the confidence.

On playing himself
It would be interesting to play myself in the last episode. It will not be scripted at all.
I will give all the liberty to Gurpaal to ask me anything he wants to.

On politics
I’m not politician, I don’t do politics. For me it is only the medium to reach out to people. After elections I did go to Patna and organized the camps for free heart and eye check-ups. I am also willing to open hospital for pediatric cardiology.

And very recently, there was news that he took a dig at Kangana when she reportedly interfered in a conversation between him and Mohit Suri at a party.

Now when he was asked about what he thought about Kangana, he just said wistfully, “When he was 13 he said he wanted to marry the girl he was in love with, and eventually he broke up with her. His childhood sweetheart had been pretty, educated, and from a good family. I and my wife Alka would have been happy to welcome her into the family whenever Adhyayan would have wanted them to but it was not to be.”

This kind of implies that he’s not really happy with his son’s choice.

He says that he showed his happiness when Adhyayan told him he loved Kangana but he gave him a lot of advice as well.

He added, “I had told him to not let it take him away from his work as this is the time to concentrate on his career and that is much more important than his love life and see to it that he never visited her on the sets including no PDA (Public display of affection).”

He also said, “My son is happy and that makes me happy. But when a young boy goes out with someone who is not only elder but also senior, things can be misinterpreted. I respect her for the work she has done. She is a fantastic actress. It couldn’t have been easy to come from a small town and make her way here. Yes, she has a past, but like my son said, who doesn’t. But there is no bahu shahu here. Adhyayan will not marry for at least ten years and who knows what will change when. I don’t know Kangana well but there is no animosity towards her at all. I wish them all the best. If the relationship survives, then that’s for the best, if not, life will go on, as it did when he broke up with his first girlfriend.”

His words already show how he feels, in spite of it being coated with some diplomacy. Need we ask more?
