Subhash Ghai had actually initially informed the director Paritosh Painter of making a sequel and he was infact, also toying the idea of titling the film as ‘Chaar Yaar’.

Says Ghai, “I was on a family vacation in Europe when Paying Guests released. I received reports hat the film was making audiences laugh. On arriving in Mumbai, I caught a show at an Andheri multiplex on Monday. I was gauging the audiences’ reaction. They were enjoying themselves. From the theatre itself, I called Paritosh up and told him to go ahead with Paying Guests 2.”

News is that, the film is to start rolling from September onwards and is likely to include some of the members of the star-cast.
Paritosh notifys, “I have discussed a broad storyline of the sequel with Subhashji. Infact, I was planning another project with him, but now have incorporated it for another sequel. The antics of the foursome now continue with a beauty pageant backdrop. At the moment, I am busy writing Dhamaal 2 after which I will begin Paying Guests 2.” It’s sure raining sequels for Paritosh Painter.

Well, it’s been well informed that Jaaved Jaafri, Aashiesh Chaudhary, Shreyas Talpade and Vatsal Sheth have been left intact and as far as the actresses go which include, Celina Jaitly, Riya Sen, Neha Dhupia and Sayali Bhagat some alteration is likely to occur.

Circa 2009 and a film called ‘Tuesday’ has been made on a similar theme, that of terrorism. Incidentally, the film is being presented by none other than Subhash Ghai. In fact the film has also travelled to the Cannes Film Festival which is currently on though not much buzz has been created about it’s entry.

Informs an insider from Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International (WWI), “The school is in fact showcasing films made by nine of its students at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival. The films will be shown at the Short Film Corner. ‘Tuesday’ is one of them.”

A 20 minutes film, ‘Tuesday’ is based on the backdrop of the terrorist attacks which took place on 11th July 2006. The film was made at a shoe string budget of mere Rs. 5 lakhs in spite of being shot at busy locations like the Mohammad Ali Road and VT Station in Mumbai. Touted to be a mix of reality with fiction, it is said to be the first film to have a 4 minutes long single take shot on Mohammad Ali Road. Shot on a high definition camera, the film has been made in sync sound.

‘Tuesday’ is a film revolving around the character of Farhan, a 22-year-old University student, who time travels 22 years from the future to the year 2006 in order to avert his father’s untimely death. Farhan’s aim is to stop his father (Junaid) from boarding one of seven trains that were to be bombed on the suburban railway in Mumbai on 11th July, 2006. He eventually does meet his father and follows him all the way to the railway station. To his horror though, he realises that his father turned out to be none other than one of the seven terrorists who planted the bombs on the trains!

‘Tuesday’ has already seen a DVD release on a couple of world cinema DVDs like ‘Jean De Florette’ [Winner of Best film, Bafta awards] and ‘A Judgement in Stone’ [Winner of Metro Media, Toronto Film Festival.

Produced by Vishal Gandhi, directed by Jogvinder Khera and presented by Subhash Ghai, ‘Tuesday’ stars debutant actors Akshat Trivedi along with Garauv Ghatnekar in the title role.

Producer Subhash Ghai’s MUKTA ARTS & JUNGLEE MUSIC released the music of Hindi film Paying Guests at Whistling Woods, Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagri (Film City), thereby promising better times for Bollywood. The music and the launch of soundtrack of PAYING GUESTS was unveiled alongwith the starcast of the movie, viz. Shemaroo World Cinema DVDs includes lots of value adds. Shemaroo Entertainment launched their World Cinema label on 10 December 2008, Wednesday at Versova Cinemax. The happening star cast and the big budget of the film couldn’t help it in any way.

It has been unanimously panned by critics and audiences have rejected it downright.

Now the situation is so that the theatre owners just can’t afford to keep it running.

According to industry sources, “The film opened to 30-40% in all the major multiplexes on Friday but the collections actually dropped down further as Sunday came. Then on Monday it went lower to a poor 20-25%. Later, as the week progressed one saw just 30-40 people patronizing its show in most of the multiplexes. At some places even in big cities, the response dwindled so low that the multiplexes were left with no option but cancel some of Yuvvraaj’s shows.”

The sources add, “Salman’s last project, ‘God Tussi Great Ho’ had met with almost a similar fate and it was necessary for him to deliver a hit in Yuvvraaj. But more than him it is the showman to be blamed for disappointing everybody, including Salman. It is learnt that some portions of the movie have been re-edited. But now it’s too late!”

Looks like Sallu’s magic is slowly fading. The bad boy needs to do something drastic to save his plummeting career.

As for Mr. Ghai, he needs to pull up his socks fast too. This is his third consecutive failure after ‘Yaadein’ and ‘Kisna’.

Either he gives up direction completely or makes a substantial film fast! That’s a sincere request, Mr Ghai!

The celebrated actress of Hindi film screen, Rekha lighted the traditional lamp to lift the curtains on the International Film Festival of India 2008 at a special ceremony at the Kala Academy Complex on Saturday evening. Randhir Kapoor, Subhash Ghai did the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Governor, Dr S S Sidhu, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting (additional charge), Mr Anand Sharma and the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat. Stating that Goa is her favourite place, and would be her future home, Rekha, in her short speech acknowledged Panaji as the best venue for holding the country’s international film festival.
