Owner of Tao Art Gallery, Kalpana Shah displayed one of her most memorable paintings, a portrait of the iconic Barrack Obama that she made back in 2008. This was originally made with the intent of being a gift for America’s favorite President and was going to be given by Sarjan Shah (son of Kalpana Shah) as he was invited for the swearing in ceremony. Unfortunately, tragedy struck and Kalpana lost her husband in the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. The painting took a back seat as Kalpana bravely put the pieces of her life back together, took over her husband’s company and became the pillar of strength for her two wonderful children. As one of her proudest accomplishments, Tao Art Gallery completes 13 years, Kalpana decided to put up the portrait for display, which was the highlight of the show!
