Speaking on this occasion, Minissha stated, “I am very happy that along with a beautiful festival, we are also being environmentally responsible. I hope and pray that next year all Ganapatis are 100 percent eco friendly.”

Every year thousands of idols made from Plaster of Paris (POP) are submerged in water bodies in and around Mumbai. Plaster Of Paris does not easily dissolve in water polluting our water bodies with toxics. We urge all the Ganesha mandals to use Clay idols as they easily dissolve in water and there is no adverse impact on the environment.

Times Green Ganesha recognizes are rewards all eco friendly efforts on individual households, societies and Ganesh Mandals in Mumbai and Pune on various parameters of eco-friendly Ganesh moorty, decoration, procession and immersion.
Times Green Ganesha will also facilitate an ecofriendly immersion drive by encouraging the masses to immerse their idols in artificial ponds. Collection pots for nirmalya and segregation of wet waste will be promoted to reduce river and sea pollution. Brihan Mumbai Sarvajanik Samanway Samiti, an entity representing 12,000 Ganesh Mandals in the city is working closely with Times Green Ganesha.
