“I would not marry a heroin”- Cricketer R.P. Singh

Young cricketer Rudra Pratap Singh from Rai Bareli, Uttar Pradesh has got the fame as fast bowler in international cricket arena after the fabulous win in T20 world cup 2007 championship. He has become an important member of Indian cricket team. Captain Dhoni also has well confidence on him. On the very first day of the arrival of Indian Cricket team from South Africa a bonanza waiting for him that is the Delhi based Pavita Water Purifier has signed R.P. Singh as their Brand Ambassador. We had an interesting conversation with him here is a synopsis of the conversation.

What was your first reaction when Shrishant caught Misba in the final?
I was feeling like I am floating in the air, we were unable to realize what was happening to us. One must have seen us in the television; we have gone crazy for a while.

And what about the reception which you people got at Mumbai?
We were not aware what is going to happen when we were in the Airport. We were stunned to see the huge crowd, we’ve got tears in our eyes then we realized that yes this was some thing special what we have done and entire country was waiting for the Cup. I salute our country for the tremendous response.

In the last two matches of this tournament you were asked to bowel the penultimate over, was that made you nerves?
Actually, some times tension leads towards perfection, when the things happen very rapidly you have to be alert and cautious and there will be always an endeavor to give your 100% and to prove your captain and his decision as a right one.

Senior players were not there in the team during this tour what would you say about this?
Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid are very experienced players and it is been a very great experience to play with such great players, I think we have missed that during this tour.

What do you think about Dhoni as a captain?
He is very peace minded person, he always seeks the participation of other team members in terms of suggestions & he expects 100% from every one, definitely he is going to be a good captain of Indian Cricket Team.

Mr. T. Shekhar the coach of MRF Academy kept lot of trust on you?
He is a great coach and his coaching helped me a lot and I would like to be on the path which he laid for me as a coach.

How do you feel about being the Brand Ambassador of Pavitra Water Purifier?
I am very happy to be the brand ambassador of Pavitra Water Purifier, these days every thing gets contaminated very easily and every family in the society should be healthy by having purified water, and I strongly endorse this brand.

According to your mother’s wish, she will be very happy if you get marry to a Bollywood actress. What do you say about this?
Now I want to concentrate on my cricket, I will definitely get marry but not with an actress, because the family which I belong is different and the kind of background I have is different, so it will be difficult to an actress to adjust with that environment. I think we need to talk more about cricket and Pavitra not about my marriage.

What was going on in your mind when captain asked Joginder Singh to bowel the final over?
When Joginder was bowling, we stopped our breath with the anxiety finally he proved himself and the captain’s decision as right one.

According to Dhoni, the players which are comes from small towns are very hard working and passionate?
Yes, I agree with him. Dhoni himself is from a small town and the cricketers who come from small towns will definitely try to give their 100%. Even I am from a small town Rai Bareli.

Which players are ebullient in Team India?
Yuvraj and Harbhajan are very jovial in the team and every one likes their company.

Do you want to say some thing to people in Rai Bareli?
I’ve got lot of love from you people and I will be thankful for that, very soon I will be there with you.

You would be getting advertisement assignments and would you like to act in movies if you get a chance?
No, I never act, I am a cricketer and I would like to play cricket. As far as advertisements are concerned if I perform well, I will get assignments and it doesn’t mean I will be performing well only to get advertisement assignments. For me cricket is very important and my entire life revolves around cricket only.

You said you are not interested in acting, if you get an option to work in a video album?
There is no idea yet, it can be possible due to certain personal relations but professionally it is not possible.

Do you watch movies?
Yes, besides cricket if I get time I would like to watch movies and the place from where I belong has a lot of passion of movies and cricket. I am a part of that.
