Raveena, Raageshwari at IMC ladies Diwali exhibition

The Exhibition Season Ends with the Biggest and the Best – The IMC Exhibition 2010!. After a season full of exhibitions, the ORIGINAL, BIGGEST and PREMIER Ladies Exhibition arrived! With its huge turnout, impeccable style and fabulous participants, the IMC Women Entrepreneur Exhibition 2010 proved to be the finest so far. As they have always done, over the last 20 years, the Committee Members of the IMC put up a fabulous show, choosing the most appropriate participants with a wide array of products. Mumbai’s shopaholics were thrilled and this Diwali season the women finally arrived at what they were waiting for all season. The Women Entrepreneur Exhibition 2010, opened with a special preview for the city’s hot and happening at Expo Center, World Trade Center, Cuffe Parade on Thursday, 14^th October.

The exhibition was opened by the Guest of Honour, Raveena Tandon, who said, “the exhibition is not just about shopping, it is such a special effort the woman’s wing of IMC put so much work to come out with an exhibition that is both enjoyable for everyone and gives back to the society…it is amazing how it serves a greater purpose even while catering the most basic Woman need… Shopping!”

Every year, Women Entrepreneurs (WE) provides an opportunity for talented women entrepreneurs in the country to come together and showcase their creativity. It heralds the pre-Diwali shopping season by providing a delightful range of varied and high quality products. This season too, WE has a motley spread of fashion, jewellery, beauty and wellness all under one platform. For the first time ever, the Exhibition had participants from the food industry dishing out tasty delicacies to the shoppers.

Numerous other special guests like Avanti Birla, Aarti Surendranath, Smita Thackaray, Rashmi Thackaray, Malti Jain, Queenie Singh, Raageshwari, Bhagyahshree, Shaina NC, Chhaya Momaya, Dr.Swati Piramal, Nisha Merchant, Kiran Juneja, Salma Khan, Mana Shetty, Shaan Khanna and Sharmila Khanna, Sabira Merchant, Ananita Shroff Adajania, Madhu Nair and Malini Agarwal came out in support of this unique and noble endeavour.

Fifty per cent of the net surplus from the exhibition is spent toward worthy projects on education, empowerment and economical development of the girl child and women in specific and also supports projects focusing on cleanliness and sanitation infrastructural development in Mumbai and rural upliftment initiatives. Stalls are also reserved on a complimentary basis for NGOs to help them raise funds through the sale of their products created by them. The participating NGOs this year are M. Rm. Rm. Cultural Foundation, Shree Atmavallabh Swavlambar Mahila Kendra, Om Creations Trust, Royal Hathkargha Vikas Samiti (Maheshwar) and Cancer Patients Aids Association.

Dr. Smita Dandekar, newly elected President, IMC Ladies’ Wing who has been the heart and soul of the IMC WE Exhibition this year was ecstatic with the response the exhibition has already received within a few short hours of its opening. When asked if her expectations have been met with she said, “We here at IMC strongly believe that every endeavour made by us should reap its rewards for the society, the immense response that we have already received leaves me with no doubt that we are going to raise huge funds to support all our social service projects, and in that respect yes our efforts have reaped amazing results”.

While the mood of the exhibition was up beat, the success story of the exhibition could quite clearly be witnessed in the numerous shopping bags on their way out!
