“5 All Day” opens in Colaba with a sunny Sunday brunch. It was a sunny and lazy, laid-back Sunday as “5 All Day” the newest resto-lounge in Colaba threw opens it’s doors for a sneak-peek for specially invited guests, yesterday afternoon.
Chef Mrinmoy Acharya and Roy Edwin, the duo behind this brightly-lit and lively-coloured eatery happily welcomed their friends and some of Mumbai’s movers and shakers for a champagne brunch that stretched into the early hours of the evening.
Roy Edwin and Chef Mrinmoy Acharya have been the people behind “5 –The Restaurant” in Santacruz, for many years now. And due to incessant appeals from their townie clients to open another branch in South Mumbai, the duo finally relented and decided to open “5 All Day” – an all-day dining experience.
The restaurant opens early in the morning for breakfast and is on till 1:30am every night. “We have designed this as a place to come and relax, chill and enjoy your food and drink without being hurried or rushed by the staff,” says Roy Edwin. “It’s all about comfort! Comfort food! Comfort drinks! And comfortable interiors!”
“As for the food, it’s Continental with a twist,” says Chef Acharya. “While even our bread is made freshly in-house, you can expect even simple things like pasta to have a fusion element in it,” he adds.
Among the many guests who came for the opening-day brunch were designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed and his friend Milena Rascovic, actor and model Raman Lamba, designer AD Singh and his wife Puneet, actress Ananya Dutta, singer Chintoo Bhosle (from Band Of Boys) with his wife Aditi and daughter Mishka, designer Lascelles Symons, Aparna Badlani (of Atosa boutique), actor Farid Currim and actor Alexx O’Neil with designer / actress Shama Sikandar.
Shama was the cynosure of all eyes in a white and gold Grecian-style dress while Ananya Dutta wore a powder-blue one-shoulder crepe-chiffon mini kaftan. Particularly interesting were the bright yellow jeans Lascelles Symons wore, which he bought on a recent trip to Paris.
As the champagne cocktails did the rounds and DJ Yohan played some eclectic House music, the guests were seen mingling and chatting animatedly. It was an afternoon where, for once, no one looked at their watch and simply enjoyed their drinks, food and conversation.
