Sheetal Mafatlal at artist Kamara Alam’s Exhibition

Artist Kamara Alam unveils his latest artworks titled ‘Silent Submission’. Wednesday, October 31st, 2012, Mumbai: Artist Kamar Alam unveiled his latest artworks titled “Silent Submission” with the support of Priyali Mahtani who hosted a private cocktail evening at Tote on Turf, Mahalaxmi for friends, family and art lovers.

Guest who were spotted admiring the artworks were Lata Patel, Indu Mahatani, Geeta Oberoi, Kavita Lakhani, Sheetal Mafatlal, Kiyomi Talaulicar, Kavita Puri, Bharat Mahtani, Gautam Vora amongst others.

Kamar Alam is known for his distinct portrayal of human form. The basic theme of his latest art work “Silent Submission” revolves around spirituality and how it resides within every human being. The artist’s belief in Humanity as a faith has now taken the foreground with his triumph over biases around him, and has shaped in the form of his art work in different ways. It is though this body of work that he imparts peace message and his impartial and equal approach and respect for all faiths. The form square (or modified into a rectangle) has been used with the figure of Jesus which shows that the divine is also symbolic of permanence, stability and strength in his life. Before this the artist represented the God connection with a circle, which according to him are a perfect and flawless form and the best & simplest expression of the divine. Art for Kamar Alam is God and work is worship.

‘Spirituality and God, as the supreme force has always inspired me. I feel the connection to this universal truth in meditation and submission in art. That’s why Jesus’ form has been expressed in my work, as it holds a humble semblance to my beliefs. I believe that whatever happens in this world is because of the force that is active all around us, all the time.” says Artist Kamar Alam

With all the recent success and adulation that Kamar Alam’s works have received, he will now be showcasing his works at his solo exhibition, ‘Silent Submission’ at 71-b, Cozihom building, 251 Pali hill road, Bandra(w) November 3rd– November 16th , 2010.
