GIANTTI PRESENTED THE AMAZING GULAL, GENDA AND GEHNA BRIDAL COLLECTION BY ARCHANA KOCHHAR AT THE AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL WEEK 2010
Archana Kochhar’s amazing bridal wear collection presented by Giantti in aid of the Nanhi Kali project at the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2010 show; was a celebration for Indian brides. Called The Gulal, Genda and Gehna collection, which are iconic bridal emblems namely Gulal, Marigold and Heirloom Jewels; the look was opulent with embellishments, fabrics and silhouettes selected by Archana to create the perfect look for any bride.
The setting was the exotic Tropical Lagoon at the Sahara Star Hotel where the 240 ft ramp wound its way through the circular giant atrium on several split levels, which was an ideal creation to enable the audience to get a close look at the lovely garments.
A pink invitation on each seat with a gold Kalirey attached was the beginning of the wedding celebrations by Archana. Opening the show with the Gulal collection which was a glorious graceful line of anarkali kurtas, stylish Patiala suits and creatively crushed saris in a rainbow palette of fuchsia, Gulal and red; Archana added traditional antique aari and gotta work to give a festive look to the garments which had the intricate work of expert craftsmen.
Shonal’s sari with a wide gotta border, Tapur in a red fitted lehenga with silver work, Sucheta in an empire line silk kurta were a part of the festive ensembles. Shreya’s red/gold dotted sari had a black heavy embroidered border, while Simran entered in a red layered net crinoline lehenga with a floating train.
For the Genda segment Archana stayed true to the vibrant colours of the Marigold flowers and played with shades of mango, haldi and orange for an elegant line that was sophisticated yet eye catching. Deepa in a satin baby doll kurti, some layered yellow/orange/rust lehengas, elegant printed fishtail versions and draped mini with crystals added variety to the range. Sucheta with a red satin diagonal embroidered fitted skirt and choli and some lovely printed paneled ones in the colour story fitted well into the Genda segment.
Finally Archana’s Gehna section was opulent on all fronts as the gold, champagne and ivory colour palette on the ramp dazzled the audience with semi precious stones that worked around stunning complex Mughal designs and motifs. Shruti in a beige antique work lehenga, Tupur in a full circle tulle kurta over a skirt and churidars, while Hemangi dazzled in a beige/red velvet appliqué lehenga with fabric tassels and tiny choli.
Archana’s show stopper was dramatic as four handsome male models clad in white and silver sherwanis and a very acrobatic dancer moved to the strains of the theme tune from Jodha Akbar as they escorted the petite pretty Amrita Rao, who looked angelic in a Mughal-e-Azam inspired red velvet lehenga with a panelled long sleeve angarkha.
The Giantti jewellery collection worn by the models was a visual panorama of diamonds, kundan, rubies, emeralds and glittering gold that dazzled on the catwalks.
For bridal wear that will make the girl the centre of attraction on the most important day of her life; then Archana Kochhar’s Gulal, Genda and Gehna collection presented by Giantti will provide all the perfect touches for her wedding trousseau.
