ANUJ SHARMA PRESENTED A FASHIONABLY KNOTTY COLLECTION AT LAKME FASHION WEEK
MUMBAI 23 OCTOBER 2008: Each season the audience expectations rise when an Anuj Sharma show is held, as they wait for the designer to do something completely out of the ordinary. And each season the designer seems to push the limits to the ultimate levels.
Just when it seemed that his rivet collection last season could not be bettered, Anuj Sharma’s proved that for his Spring/Summer 2009 collection at Lakme Fashion Week he was once again thinking out of the box. The collection called “Knot for You” revolved around strategically placed knots that bound, shaped, draped and constructed the fabrics for the outfits.
Using the perfect material – just crepe and georgette – for his theme and selecting just three muted colours brown, nude and grey, Anuj knotted the fabric to create versions of flowers or a butterfly like effect and held the garments at the shoulders by slim black ribbons.
Layered draped and folded the sheer fabrics proved perfect for Anuj’s designs. Graceful, ethereal and almost Grecian in their appearance some of the garments that made an impact were the knee length georgette nude and grey creation, the long maxi with draped and layered hemline, the garment with the clinched back and one with knots at the front to give a perfect fit to the toga like ensembles.
Flowing, airy and perfect for summer, the collection which Anuj Sharma has declared is “Knot for You” but this will still make women rush for it!
