Leconet Hemant’s Show at Lakme Fashion Week 2008
LECONET HEMANT’S MEN’S WEAR COLLECTION CREATED A NEW FASHION STATEMENT AT LAKME FASHION WEEK
MUMBAI October 22, 2008: Leconet Hemant’s LHMAN label presented an utterly trendy funky men’s wear collection for Spring/Summer 2009 at Lakme Fashion Week.
Inspired by the Twilight Zone and other extra terrestrial themes, the collection titled “Are you High?” was contemporary in style and construction. The colours weren’t dull or sombre but vibrant with khaki, grey, white, brown, beige and clay being the basis on which pink, blue, red and coral added a note of innovation to the spectrum.
A quirky dog motif appeared on jackets and trousers in black or gold to add an element of fun. Linen, jersey, grosgrain, cotton, herringbone, twill, and poplin gave the men’s wear a new fashion direction with the designers creating some interesting detailing and fits.
The trousers were either zootlander or zooid, (wide on the hips and then tapering down) the canvas buffoon shorts were teamed with dissected shirts and decollage jackets, some of them with drawstrings or slightly gathered at the hemline. The cut of the suits was with two-button closures with narrow lapels and single vents. The formal ones were unstructured and teamed with slim pants. The T-shirts for casual wear were body hugging with broken necklines in muted tones.
To add to the very futuristic look of the collection, Leconet Hemant brought in fluorescent plastic, metallic plaques and transparent framing for lapels and cuffs. The collection was spirited, easy going and very comfortable in fabrics that moved effortlessly from casual to formal wear.
The finale all-red suit signaled the trend of men’s wear using this vibrant colour very lavishly for the coming season.
Leconet Hemant’s LHMAN line was very strong on styling but at the same time high on the wearable quotient to give an international touch to male wardrobes.
