Designer Ditiya Roy launches her New Design Label with a Gala Fashion Show. Kolkata, 20th April, 2013: It is a new era in fashion, there are no rules, and it is all about the individual and personal style. The city of joy, recognized by its inimitable taste of fabrics and craftsmanship, graced one such new design label of Ditiya Roy as the new face of the Indian ramp today with a gala fashion show at Taj Bengal.

The night unveiled the imprint of its ultimate glamour as the Fashion-famed actor-model, Mugdha Godse strutted her exclusive designs as the night’s showstopper. The immaculate rendition of the latest collection saw its grand launch with the best of Indian models like Carol Gracias, Bhawna Sharma, Rachel Byros and several others walking the ramp. The show maneuvering to the credit of the supermodel Bong beauty Nayanika Chatterjee saw the beauty cauldron gracing the night’s glitz and glamour. The show was a sneak preview to some of her collections that would be available from 2nd May at her studio at 2 Rowland Row, Ballygunge.

After completing fashion design course from NIFT and Fashion Online, launching her own label was a very natural progression for Ditiya Roy. Elegant and effortlessly modish, Ditiya Roy is a keen aficionado of aesthetics steeped in perfection and simplicity. Ditiya Roy loves the use of pure materials with extensive use of pearls and hand embroidery. Hand work is what she believes in, as it brings out an Indian in her. Her logo, a Bengali hand fan “Haat Pakha”, celebrates the heritage of the rich craftsmanship of Bengal.

Ditiya’s fresh take on Indian craftsmanship makes her the go-to couturier for Indian women. Her creations are characterized by defined cuts, flowy silhouettes and intricate embroidery embellished with extensive Pearl handwork and pure Chantilly lace from France. Her avid personal passion for pure materials is evident in her latest collection which is a blend of chiffon, georgette, Japanese cotton, and velvet with a variety of handworks. Using intense tones and vibrant colors lend an exquisite look to the design aesthetics. Experimenting with colors and designs in vogue, the collection has in the foray traditional Sari with Pearl and French knots, Floral motifs in Western silhouettes, Pearl work on Velvet silhouettes, Gathered Stretched satin with French Chantilly lace embellished with Swarovski crystals, French Black Chantilly lace in satin, embellished gowns in chiffon and georgette.
