Sonali Bendre walks the ramp for Laksh pahuja Show at IIJW Day 3 on 21st Aug 2012 .LAKSH PAHUJA AND ANAND SHAH DAZZLED THE AUDIENCE AT THE INDIA INTERNATIONAL JEWELLERY WEEK 2012 WITH THEIR AMAZING CREATIVITY.
Two designers gave their individual interpretations for jewellery design and amazed the audience with their creativity at the India International Jewellery Week 2012.
LAKSH PAHUJA
He is known as the innovator who is not afraid to tread on the unknown path. His inspirations are unique as he constantly pushes the envelope to amaze the viewer. Blending tradition with modernity Laksh has created memorable pieces under his signature trademark.
Outstanding creativity comes naturally to Laksh, who crafted eight masterpieces for the ramp that evoked thunderous applause from the audience. Calling his collection “Patriotism, Peace and Passion” dedicated to the nation, the pieces that appeared were:
SHAHEED – a tribute to heroes like Bhagat Singh, which was a medallion modelled like a flame with the hero’s head in the centre.
ODE TO THE NATION – was for Lata Mangeshkar – a tri colour necklace with the singer’s face on the imposing pendant.
CROWNING GLORY – was inspired by the Shunk or shell, which was turned into a gold and diamond studded hair ornament for a chignon.
PRIME CZAR – Vishwanathan Anand was the inspiration for this, so a metal helmet with enamel work had chess pieces, with the champion’s figurine in the centre
YEAR OF THE DRAGON – had a silver and gold fire spewing dragon head piece which curved on the model’s head.
JUST FREEZE – was a reminder to protect and save Mother Earth. Laksh visualized a necklace with cotton on a gold base with tiny penguins running on it.
THINK PINK – was a tribute to women and the cause of breast cancer, so a silver lattice leaf design brooch with diamond endings was a great message.
CINEMATIC CENTURY – dedicated to Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna gave rise to a spool of raw film turned into a thick silver bangle.
TIMELSS TITANIC – was the final piece – a draped model of the Titanic in diamonds and silver over one shoulder as a necklace was extreme creativity.
ANAND SHAH
Hailing from the princely state of Rajasthan, Anand Shah of Ansaa Jewellers considered amongst the top ten designers in the world along with his partner Kantilal Shah; showed a stunning collection at the India International Jewellery Week 2012.
Playing creatively with gold and semi-precious stones, Anand also added wood, glass and even oil painting to present one of the most amazing lines of unconventional jewellery.
Known for his famous peacock necklace, which has inspired many, Anand’s line was a study of nine fabulous pieces. Anand opened the show with a half necklace in three different jewel tones attached to the right ear.
Soon there were multiple circles in Technicolor for the neck while spindly ones were for the bangles. The draped floral necklaces over shoulders in beautiful colours, the snaking wide bracelet, the cross over half Kundan and half carved necklace and earrings took the audience on a truly mind blowing creative journey.
The inverted tower necklace-cum-collar in gold, rubies, Polki and the cinched paper bag inspired cuff proved that Anand was totally in command of his unconventional designs. The flat choirboy collar neckpiece and the armlet which curved over the upper arm were pieces of intense creativity.
The wildly meshed floral cuff and cluster of gold with coloured gems had a startling effect on the audience as they stared in disbelief at the grandeur of the ornaments. But the best was yet to come when Sonali Bendre, the show stopper, sashayed in wearing a carved lacy neck piece and cuff which had 84 interwoven peacocks in multicolour.
The wonderful garments for both the designers’ shows were created by Riddhi and Siddhi Mapxencer.
It was an evening of intelligent, creative jewellery designs that made the audience applaud the genius talents of both Laksh Pahuja and Anand Shah.
