SHILPA K STUDIO OPENS AT COLABA, MUMBAI. Designer Shilpa K whose elegant creations have adorned the racks of Mumbai’s best multidesigner stores and have won rave reviews from fashionistas of the city, now proudly presents her signature store “Shilpa K’ at Wodehouse Road, Mumbai.
A Preview was hosted to celebrate the opening of “Shilpa K” on Saturday 13th September 2008. Models Aanchal Kumar and Candice Pinto showcased the breathtaking designer collections. Shilpa K’s creations are a beautiful blend of good design combined with excellent fit, finish and fabric.
Acccording to Shilpa “When I design a garment I like to visualize it enhancing the personality of the wearer and not taking it over. My designs make heads turn but never, never scream for attention”.
The look of a Shilpa K creation is generally simple and yet different . Her garments are a lot of fun and yet not over the top. Bright vibrant hues, Indian textiles and techniques enjoy pride of place the store with a range that is uniquely elegant for a 60 yr old or absolute fun for a 25 year old who wants to make a style statement!
As wne, sangria,and appetisers flowed, candles and flowers adorned the space to give a warm inviting look. Guests seen shopping were Chhaya Momaya, Gayatri Khanna, Haani Khorakiwala, Jyoti Gwalani of Zoya, Shirin Shah of “Amer & Shirin” fame, Aanchal Kumar and Candice Pinto modelled the bridalwear and dresses by Shilpa K which were hugely inspired by all. Shilpa K with husband Sanjiv Khandelwal and brother Anupam Mittal played the warm hosts and ensured all guests were personall greeted and shown around. Shilpa’s daughters personally served guests brownies and chocolate truffles!
The garments are not overtly embellished or very traditional and yet Dressy and Chic. Linens, Silks, Chiffons and Satins see a liberal use of beautiful motifs like rosettes and paiselys and embellishments like diamontes, pearls, sequins and laces. Detailing like Puffed exaggerated sleeves, pleated neck lines add a dramatic touch to each ensemble.
Shilpa K presents an exquisite range of Saris, Ghaghras, Chudidar Kurtas, Dresses and Stylish Tops. ” The goal I seek is to have people refine their style through my clothing without becoming victims of fashion” adds Shilpa.
The Shilpa K studio is nestled amongst trees. In a quiet alcove of Wodehouse Road and . has a warm “cottagy” feel. Theres also a corner where a client can browse through fashion magazines and sip on jasmine tea.
