Mallika and Hissss…..
What poor Mallika has to go through for her role in Hissss - woman to snake and vice versa! Govind Menon the producer elaborately explained the number of hours of make-up and inconvenience that Mallika had to go through for the getup of a snake.
The best in the field of prosthetic make-up, Robert Kurtzman worked on the models of the snakes of nearly nine in number in different stages. It involves employing 5 people who will operate the snakes while Mallika does her piece. Robert known for his special effects in creating live creatures has worked from scratch to create the effect needed.
Two make-up artistes work on Mallika’s face and she has to wear a outfit that is so skin tight. The suits are so uncomfortable and she has to literally be in them for over 8 to 10 hours and cannot eat or drink or use the restrooms. Mallika has taken it all in her stride to give her best.
The make-up is said to take about 2 to 3 hours in the initial stages and another 4 to 5 hours for the later stages. The make-up MUFX is rigorous and time consuming one. Mallika, to top it all had to wear huge eye lenses for those eerie eyes of a snake. Wearing such lenses can be painful and they have to removed once in 1/2 hour for the eyes to breathe.
Moving around the sets is not easy either. Either she moves around like a snake does or has to be carried around. Phew! Hope the movie is a hit and does not leave Mallika hissing after all that she went through for it!
