Dhoom Dhadaka, yet another farcical comedy on underworld dons! I really wonder, the underworld dada or bhais create so much terror in the local public and yet the film industry isn’t scared to create animated dons? Aren’t they scared of them? Or their calls for hafta? Are you guys listening out there?

No self respecting dons should tolerate the kind of images these films make. Just take a look at the past couple of years, the comedy films will always have a really jocular don, who tickles you out of your wits and you laugh at them rather than getting scared of them.
Anyways, coming back to the point here is another comedy films on dons releasing this week, which can be again forgotten like Don Muthuswami. While Muthuswami had Mithun as a saving grace, here we here we have not one but three stalwarts of comedy, Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik and Satish Shah. Rightly put together these three musketeers can prove fatal to your self restraint, you cannot simply escape them!
The treasure-hunt based comedies have given way to heir apparent hunt in Bollywood flicks now. Shashi Ranjan a known name in the world of Indian Television gets an interesting star cast but hardly lives up to creating a manageable comedy even. Shashi Ranjan’s Dobara, which dealt with a sensitive issue, was recognized by film critics even if it didn’t do wonders at the box office.
Comedy is not about just laughing out aloud which you do looking at the 36 type of expressions the veterans of comedy show you in the film. Take for example, Welcome which has dome buffoonery in terms of funny underworld dons but the movie clicked because of the wit it adds to the situations which somehow doesn’t happen with Dhoom Dhadaka. It looks mediocre and the actors are too under utilized. The film’s plot is pretty much its minus point which is not clearly defined and the sections that you laugh generally fall out of the bigger jigsaw you are presented with.
Dhoom Dhadaka as the title suggests is a mixture of sounds rather than being a melodious song. The film is about a don, Mungilaal (Anupam Kher, isn’t that the name has been given to explicitly induce humor!) who has to find a heir to his legacy other wise his rival don Fursat Lala (a mean Gulshan Grover) will take over his empire as decided by the underworld godfather Ganpat Rai ( Jackie).
As Mungilaal has taken lot of pain to reach the place he is now, with his humble beginning as a small town don. Mungilaal’s biggest support and assistant is Jignesh (Satish Shah, a typical Gujju bhai, which other name would have fitted the bill with such eperfection!). The two of them ponder over the search of an heir apparent and Jignesh remembers that Mungilaal’s sister Angoori (Bhavna Balsaver) had a son, who resembles him.
The two then hire a detective Johnny Inglish (Satish Kaushik, one actor who must have the most interesting names in the history of Indian cinema is no doubt Satish Kaushik). With a promise to get their heir in 20 days time with a huge amount of 50 lacs as fee, Johnny brings in hope.
In the subplots, we have another set of interesting youngsters like Rahul (Shaad), Ranbir (Sammir Dattani), Rahul’s girl friend Shivani (Aarti Chhabria), Ranbir’s girl Jiya (Shama Sikandar) and Fursat Lala’s son Feroz (Pakistani actor Zac). While Rahul and Ranbir have to fight it out on the heir front, Shivani is the top-most item girl in Bollywood (Rakhi Sawant needs some more dramas to get back this position).
Without missing it out, we have a hot Deepshikha a sexy yet sex-crazy housewife who comes in between scenes. The search of the rightful heir goes on and on till you scream enough.
Excluding one really hot item number, Hari Om, the other songs are sadly forgettable. Hari Om is said to be the hottest number so far but the time when one item song made all that difference is gone. While acting wise, the characters are left to fend for themselves, they miss out on the complimenting each other aspect. As a whole or a single entity, the movie hardly has any chances.
Good for a watch on television and the great item number can also be caught in MTV or Channel V as well!
