Kamal Amrohi has given some wonderful films and the expectation from his grandson somehow did not get fulfilled. Some films are destined to be doomed. HUM SEY HAIN JAHAAN which released with two powerful films this week doesn’t stand a chance to make a mark and is sandwiched between the Bachchan films SARKAR RAJ and Rajeev Khandelwal’s AAMIR.
Rating:2/5
Mashhoor Amrohi who makes his debut with the film has also directed the film along providing the story and the screenplay. In one word, he has written and directed a film for himself. But the fact that there is nothing significant about the story and direction the film will soon disappear as soon as it has been released.
The fact that it was his first film which he ever directed, he can take some liberty and he gives his best but then you can never really forgive him for releasing it at the most wrong time when every eye and ear was waiting for SARKAR RAJ.
The film’s relatively less publicity also proves a disadvantage and is unable to support it. most people won’t even know it has released but only those who have already visited the theater to watch SARKAR RAJ or AAMIR.
Mashhoor Amrohi is probably the most ambitious of all the debutants this year because, he tired everything at one shot. May be he could have tried not to become the jack of all trades and rather to become the master of one. Because it is very difficult to do justice to multitasking and even though for a debutant the film is good, it could have been better if he had let someone else decide the story and even the screenplay isn’t impressive.
The story revolves around a ex-conman Sameer Khanna (Mashhoor Amrohi) who flees to Singapore leaving behind his past to become a recovery agent for a nightclub racketeer Gary Rosario (Jackie Shroff). He earns his money here by stealing and cheating money out of others. He falls into financial crunch to help his brother but doesn’t get any help from Rosario. This makes the young man hatch a plan.
He plans to make the daughter of a multimillionaire and then to kidnap her for money. He meets Esha (Vishakha Singh), the daughter of super star actor Gyaneshwar Singh (Shehzad Khan) and woos her love.
Sameer convinces Esha to run away with him and they both land up in the romantic Sentosa Island. But in the process of kidnapping her, he falls in love with her and finally he hopes to tell her the truth.
Mean while Gyaneshwar Singh seeks the help of his friend Rosario to find his daughter. Rosario in turn asks Sameer to find Esha. While things are moving in strange directions, drug lords Dabar (Mukesh Rishi) and Pran Panwara (Kiran Kumar) kidnap Esha.
Esha somehow comes to know about the truth behind Sameer’s love and wants to pretend that she is dead. Then everyone is looking for Esha and Rosario thinks Sameer has killed Esha.
Sameer tries to save his life and is haunted by men with loaded guns and solving out the various loose strands becomes the rest of the story.
The film does show Mashhor as a good actor and director. Vishakha Singh proves OK sort of actress with the limited scope she had. Jackie Shroff was stereotyped and the rest were ok.
The music by Suhas, Siddharth and Abuzar is nothing special. Aamir Lal’s cinematography takes you for some good shots. Over all, the film is a good watch when available on TV.
