To be able to wear your precious jewellery often, try flaunting pieces in mutliple ways to lend a different look every time, says an expert.
Manju Kothari, Creative Director of Entice, a jewellery brand of the KGK group, has shared a few tips and tricks:
* Wear two medium-sized necklaces at your wedding as compared to one extra large necklace. The two necklaces, when worn together, preferably a choker and a long necklace, create a grand effect and can be worn later individually.
To make these two necklaces match well, jewellers are making detachable larger necklaces that can be easily split into two when desired, yet create a complete look.
* Another interesting piece of jewellery that can be used later is the haathphool. A rare accessory used mostly on the wedding day, haathphool is the least used piece after one’s wedding. Some innovative haathphools can be detached and worn separately as a pendant, ring and bracelet.
* Mehendi functions are the one of the most fun parts of any wedding. As one cannot wear anything on the hands, elaborate maangtika with chandelier earrings add grace and the desired sparkle. Very pretty floral and gota jewellery is also available in the market for mehndi functions that are mostly held during the day.
Dresses for cocktail evenings can be paired with diamond jewellery and kundan, polki is most reserved for the main wedding day. This results in a different look on every occasion.
* As winter is approaching, a very stylish, but long forgotten piece of jewellery is the brooch. Instead of a pin, use this to tuck the pallu or dupatta in place on your shoulder.
Brooches can also be used as hair accessories with ease. Winter afternoons play host to many day weddings where the guests get to enjoy the sun and brides pose with sunglasses. But, jewellery for day wear weddings need to be planned differently as compared to evenings.
While deep emeralds and rubies work best for evening weddings, incorporating pale coloured gemstones like pink tourmalines, turquoise, amethysts and pearls look stunning in day weddings.
