Nicolas Sarkozy to attend conclave in Mumbai

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will later this month take to the India Today Conclave stage, where President Pranab Mukherjee along with some politicians, titans of the corporate world, stars from the glamour, sports and literary worlds will converge to discuss global issues.

The India Today conclave explores the concept of ‘The Great Disruption’ for its 16th edition. It will be held for the first time here on March 17-18.

Apart from Sarkozy and Mukherjee, names like Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, Mahindra Group Executive Chairman Anand Mahindra, Godrej Group Chairman Adi Godrej and HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh and Paytm Founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma will be among the speakers, read a statement issued by the organisers on Wednesday.

From Bollywood, names like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin will explore the changing landscape of cinema.

The conclave will also witness the worldwide premiere of short films by Sudhir Mishra, Nandita Das, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Ram Madhvani.

Conclave Director Kalli Purie said: “This edition is a progressive and directional platform that aims to contribute in rebuilding the disrupted social order. This specially designed multi-sensory experience, spread across two days will be a great opportunity to listen to some of the sharpest minds across the world, get inspired and take some meaningful memories back home.”

She said there will be mobile movie premieres, spell-binding stage performances, curated experiences and gourmet delights, apart from a powerful thought flow at the event.

As many as 43 names have been listed as participants in the conclave. Abdul Basit, High Commissioner of Pakistan to India, will also be present as will Pakistani filmmaker Sabiha Sumar.
