Acclaimed Indian filmmakers Onir and Shekhar Kapur on Sunday expressed dismay and sorrow over the Istanbul nightclub terror attack, which claimed at least 39 lives and left 69 injured.
A gunman opened fire at people celebrating New Year at a nightclub in Istanbul early on Sunday.
Onir, a National Award winner known for “My Brother… Nikhil”, “Bas Ek Pal” and “I AM”, tweeted: “2017 starts with a terror attack in Istanbul. Prayers for the victims and love to all those who lost their dear ones. Deeply saddened”.
Shekhar Kapur, best known for his award-winning films like “Masoom”, “Mr. India”, “Bandit Queen” and “Elizabeth”, tweeted: “My heart goes out to the people and city of #Istanbul. Known for their beauty, history, art, architecture and sufi traditions.”
No group has claimed responsibility for the massacre.
