Delhi-based footwear designer Swati Mehrotra is geared up to launch in Amritsar her customised range of shoes under the brand name Swati Modo.

Mehrotra currently has one store in Delhi’s Defence Colony area, and she hopes to expand her brand in Punjab.

“We are targeting eight to 10 stores in Punjab. We are coming up with two stores in Amritsar. The first launch is Oct 5 as a shop-in-shop for men, and on Oct 13, we will launch our standalone store,” Mehrotra told IANS.

The shop-in-shop will open at Maahi, a men’s wedding solution designer store by Mukesh Mehra, while the standalone store, situated in Maqbool Road in Amritsar, is owned by Rishab Chaudhary.

Mehrotra, who caters for both men and women under her five-year-old brand, has big business plans.

Her next target is to open shop in Jalandhar, Chandigarh and Ludhiana. Around the beginning of 2014, the young designer also plans to open more stores in Delhi too.

The designer says. “There is a huge market (for designer footwear) in Punjab. Amritsar is very welcoming and promising. People are experimental and open to new ideas.”

For her clients in Amritsar, Mehrotra says her focus is on her “USP (unique selling point) of customisation”. The price range of her designs starts around Rs.1,800.
