January 14, 2011 : The members of Nadar community staged protest against Karthi’s residence in T. Nagar this morning at Chennai. Karthi’s upcoming film Siruthai features him in the role of a pickpocket named ‘Rocket Raja’, which happens to be the name of their community leader as well. Since the film’s teaser shows the character in a bad light, the members were infuriated feeling that their leader’s name has been damaged.
The members raised slogans against Karthi and the entire crew of Siruthai insisting them to remove the name ‘Rocket Raja’.
However, Karthi has mentioned that there is no need for such corrections as he requests the protestors to watch the movie first and then comment.
According to the reports, the film is about a pickpocket (Rocket Raja), who leads his life carelessly by committing fraudulent acts with his friend Kaattu Poochi (Santhanam). One day, he is shocked to see a little girl calling him dad and Raja is completely unaware about the situations until he realizes that he possesses the identical looks of a IPS officer Rathinavelu, who has been the savior of hundreds of innocent peoples in a village and his life is in stake now.
