Sholay to be called Aag, Gabbar is now Babban
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s much hyped remake of Sholay was re-titled as Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. Delhi High court has approved the release of the remake of Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay by changing the title of the film. Delhi High Court has approved his films new name and also ordered him to change all character names. The most popular character of the film Gabbar Singh will be called Babban Singh, Basanti has been renamed as Ghungroo, Veeru as Virendra Chavan, Radha as Devi and Jai and Jai Ranade. While the other characters from the original film like Soorma Bhopali and Sambha have been changed to Rambhabhai and Tambhe. Producer G. P. Sippy’s grandson Sascha Sippy and Shan Uttam Singh had filed a lawsuit to permanently restrain Varma from releasing the film. The court has asked them to push their remaining claims in this matter after watching the film.
Karan Johar is planning 4 new big movies

The unnamed film no. 1 will star Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan in principal roles. For now only Abhishek is confirmed.
The unnamed film no. 2 will be directed by Siddharth Malhotra. The casting is not yet finalized.
The 3rd film Koochie Koochie Hota Hai is an animation film. The animated film will be based on Karan’s block buster, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Instead of humans, the film will feature animals in principal roles.
But the biggest project is, of course, helmed by Karan himself. Reportedly, it’s titled Khan. The film will reunite his favorite pair SRK and Kajol after K3G. But it is not finalized yet.

Partner screening for underprivileged kids
Actor Salman Khan is known for his love for kids. His charitable organization, Salman Khan Foundation has decided to have a special screening of his latest flick Partner for 500 underprivileged kids today at Cinemax multiplexes in Mumbai. The special attraction for this screening is the presence actress Sienna Miller who will be the special guest at the screening. Sienna is in Mumbai currently to create awareness for global warming and is doing a project Global Cool along with Amitabh Bachchan. Cinemax is said to have cancelled 18 shows for this event. The screening will have the Red Carpet and Barricading and balloon decoration. Actors like Govinda, Katrina Kaif, Lara Dutta and director David Dhawan will be present at the venue.
Anupam Kher-Irrfan Khan in Sankat City
Anubhav Sinha’s film entitled Sankat City will be played by Anumpam Kher and Irrfan Khan. The shooting started earlier this week. It’s a strange title for a film set in Mumbai city. After a long time Anupam has made special preparations for a role. “I’ve shaved my head off (completely). The role is such. And the director Pankaj Advani is new. He has done television before. But this is his first feature film. And he’s superb.”
Praveen Bharadwaj refuses to do lyrics for Mahesh Bhatt
Lyricist Praveen Bharadwaj who has given lyrics to more than 100 films and 25 music albums has refused to do films with Mahesh Bhatt with whom he had worked on many films at one point of time in his career. One wonders why the fallout between the two despite Bhardwaj wrote hit songs for Mahesh Bhatt’s films like Gunaah, Saaya and Inteha. Praveen laments, “I charge a certain amount for my services. It may look too high to some people, but those are my charges. After the recording of Saaya, Mahesh Bhatt paid me an amount that cannot be mentioned. I just refused the payment. Post that I wrote lyrics for only one song each for his next two films. And both these songs ‘Dil Chura Liya’ from Saaya and ‘Ab Humse Akela Raha Jaye Na’ from Inteha were hits. Incidentally Praveen claims he charges only second to Javed Akhtar.
Did Pritam get credits for song not done?
Pritam is extremely upset about a baseless allegation against him that is making the rounds in media circles for last few days now! As per reports in the Kolkata edition of leading newspaper, Pritam’s programmer was the man behind his immensely successful track ‘O Meri Jaan’ from the film ‘Life In A…Metro’. “Not just is the report baseless”, explodes Pritam, “it also comes at a wrong time, especially when the film is a hit and the music has proved to be a blockbuster ever since it released. Imagine you are required to even answer to such stupid quotes when you had rather move on and work on creating an even better soundtrack.” There certainly would have been some reason for something as serious as this to come on print. What exactly happened? “Irresponsible writing, simple”, says a visibly upset Pritam, “Otherwise if someone else would have composed a song, why it would have come under my name? What I had told the journalist was that the piano riff of ‘O Meri Jaan’ which is similar to the beginning guitar riff of silent lucidity is played by my programmer. That’s about it; the song has nothing to do with it.”
