Critic Review of Shaka laka boom boom

Published on

One word I would use to describe this song is HORRENDOUS. This song is just another link in the horrifying chain of songs Mr. Reshammiya has produced. Why anyone would even listen to this song in particular is just beyond me. The song may have digitized ‘sounds’ and beats that scare the life out of me but the cherry on this cake (yuck!) is not his nasal vocals but the frightening rap.

Song: Shaka Laka boom boom
Artiste : Himesh Reshammiya
Movie: Shaka Laka boom boom

The definition of rap and hip-hop has been twisted several times in the past five years.

But Reshammiya has twisted it beyond limits. This song is not in essence a song but just noise with rhyming words which make no sense at all when heard without the mind-numbing beats.

The whole point of doing a rap is not to be “cool”. A rap is also a form of a lyric. Well this concept has been not been understood properly by our music directors who think the music industry is just a way of making fast money and of course fame.

Aside from the rap, the words(that are sung) are weird. Reshammiya’s nasal vocals makes it even harder to understand the words. I still reminisce over the days when he used to stay away from the microphone and direct melodious songs. I hated those songs too, but now they seem god-sent.

The female voice in this song may sound like one of the mice from “Cinderella” but the voice incidentally is human. Akriti Kakkar sounds like she has inhaled a lot of helium before she recorded the song.

Reshammiya’s songs can form a continuous medley and the listeners will never know. The only difference in all his songs are the lyrics (which Sameer vomits out per day) and the tempo.

The video of this song is another nightmare. What would possess a human being to bring so much suffering to us television addicts is something I will never know. Bobby Deol with corn-rows just makes me hurl. Upen Patel is unwanted in Bollywood. The individual who coaxed him towards acting must be taken to a psychiatrist. He cannot act and will not even if his life depended on it.

The so-called leading ladies of this movie/video may be externally perfect but they too cannot act. Celina and Kangana shake their hips to the stupidity that some people call Reshammiya’s genius. They look beautiful, I don’t deny but they are an utter waste in this movie. The choreography of this song may be ignored, as one will stare at the moronic act that they call a ‘hip-hop’ video. The usual gestures in front of the camera are common phenomenon in this video.

The existence of this movie/video/song just proves to me, that the IQ levels of certain groups of people in India are falling by the millisecond.
