Frieda gives Cannes a miss?

Reams of newsprint have been devoted to imminent Aishwarya Rai- Frieda Pinto face-off at the upcoming 63rd Cannes Film Festival. Looks like the senior actress has won out as Frieda will be unable to attend the fest on account of work commitments. The pretty lass is so tied up with work that she cannot fit the gala event into the hectic schedule.

Frieda was slated to walk the red carpet for her film You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. The Woody Allen directed film stars Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, and Anupam Kher. It will be premiered at Cannes, begging on 12th May. However, Frieda will be on a shooting schedule for ‘Immortals‘ and won’t be able to make it. A source confirmed the fact for Sampurn Wire, stating that Frieda Pinto will unhappily not be attending the movie festival as she is shooting for Immortals in Canada.

Immortals, directed by Tarsem Singh, is slated to release in 2011. Her projects include Miral alongside Palestinian actor Hiam Abbas will play the lead role in the French Israeli co-production. Directed by Julian Schnabel, the film is about the partition of Palestine and the creation of the state of Israel.

Frieda stormed the film world with her 2009 debut Slumdog Millionaire. She has since done more Hollywood projects than working back home. Reportedly, the lady has been approached to play a Bond girl! After attending the Oscars and BAFTA awards, Cannes seemed like a natural progression. But it was not to be, as Ms Pinto is one busy lady!
