Indian Red Alert at German Film Festival

Producer TP Aggarwal and Rahul’s next film ‘Red Alert-The War Within’ is hailed by critics and audiences at Stuttgart Film Festival 2009 as ‘the film that will take Indian Cinema to another height in International world Cinema”.

It was given the ‘Director’s Vision Awards’ at the 6th edition of Stuttgart Film Festival 2009. In fact Star Entertainments’ forthcoming film RED ALERT – THE WAR WITHIN was hailed with standing ovation and a 5 star rating by German critics, after it was screened as the closing film of the festival on 19th July.

A question was raised, “Do you think that Indian censors will pass it?”

A packed house comprising of German viewers, critics and festival officials were gripped and moved by the spellbinding story of a farm laborer who inadvertently gets trapped in India’s notorious Naxalite movement. It changes his life, and raises some controversial questions that shake the very foundations of the system.

The German described the unexpected ending “ingenious” as the film reminded them of their own RAF terrorist movement. In fact, it underlined the international ramifications of the film, while remaining rooted in Indian soil.

“Gripping, differentiated story of farm laborers trapped in a war between Naxales and cops,” declared film critic Peter Jesben– senior editor, Audio-Video-Foto BILD (German’s largest monthly magazine on consumer electronics) who gave it a 5 star rating.

Back in India, the headlines in news papers continue to chase the film. Director Anant Mahadevan, who was inspired to make the film after reading the stunning account of the farm laborer in a prominent daily, says that Red Alert- The War Within, was a story waiting to be told, a question waiting to be asked. Where is this war of civilians with civilians really going?
