May 6, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Her recent release ‘It’s a Wonderful Afterlife’ has already had a super release in the U.K and is soon to release in India on 7th May 2010. Indian weddings have always been a talking point for Gurinder and the Indian wedding flavour has been seen quite often even in her past films like ‘Bend it like Beckham’ and ‘Bride and Prejudice’. But Gurinder is finally done with the idea of Punjabis and weddings in her films.
The talented director has decided to move on from the idea of weddings in her upcoming films and now will concentrate on other subjects. Her upcoming projects include a film with children on ecology and another on her own family background. Sampurn Wire reported that her upcoming children’s adventure film is set in Kerala and the work on the script is on the roll. This film is about elephants and is set in an elephant sanctuary. Gurinder wanted to make an innocent film for children with a social message. Gurinder promises that this film will be something different for the viewers and will certainly not have any weddings or Punjabis!
Talking about her other upcoming project which has references to Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre’s bestseller ‘Freedom At Midnight’ for which she is still doing research. When questioned further about this film Gurinder said, “The film is a passion project and the script needs to be carefully worked upon. If the script works out this year then the film will go on floors next year”.
