Pixion, the popular post-production studio with many makers seems to have rubbed at least two filmmakers the wrong way recently. And both these makers are extremely angry right now.
A trade pundit states, “The DI work of Sagar Bellary’s (Bheja Fry) Kachcha Limboo was done at Pixion, the results of which horrified the director. When he enquired with the studio about why his copy was looking so bad, he was informed that the fault lay with his negative. Devastated, Bellary sent a reel to Prime Focus to see the result of the DI work there. But to his surprise, the result at Prime Focus was excellent which, obviously, would not have been possible had there been a fault in the negative. Bellary is so bugged with Pixion for doing what he feels was shoddy work that he intends proceeding legally against the post-production studio.”
The other maker mighty pissed with Pixion is producer Abhimanyu Singh of Contiloe Films. The trade pundit further adds, “Abhimanyu is making an animated film on the Ramayana. Since the animation work involved was huge, he offered equity to Pixion’s owner, P.K. Tiwari. Which in turn meant Pixion was to be paid for its services partly in cash and partly in the form of equity. As the work seemed to be becoming never-ending for Pixion, the studio approached the producer with the plea that the terms needed to be revised in its favour. Not only was the cash component of the agreement revised twice, on Pixion’s request, but even the equity was increased. When Pixion wanted a third revision for the work, Abhimanyu Singh is said to have asked Pixion to see reason or, in the alternative, quit the job.”
Tension brewed between the two parties and finally reached the AMPTPP to which Abhimanyu complained. Last heard, the AMPTPP this week took strong exception to Pixion’s stand in the Ramayana mein Mahabharat case and threatened to have its members boycott the studio.
