Preity's film gets a new namePreity Zinta’s Candian film about domestic violence, ‘Heaven On Earth’ has got a new name. It’ll be released in India under the title ‘Videsh’. The film shows a Punjabi woman as the victim of domestic violence in the immigrant community in Canada and is set to open in Indian theatres.

‘Heaven On Earth’ had opened to very positive response in Canada. Preity even bagged Best Actress Award at 44th Chicago Film Festival for her performance. She won Silver Hugo Award for Best Actress “for her strong yet subtle performance as a woman struggling to keep her dreams despite brutal realities”. It has also been nominated for the best original screenplay at the 24th Genie Awards. Preity has bagged a nomination in the best actress category.

The Hindi version of NRI filmmaker Deepa Mehta’s Punjabi film will get that name.

The movie will be released under the banner B.R. Films and is scheduled for March release but the production house hasn’t confirmed any date yet.

Sanjay Bhutian, CEO of BR Films said in a press statement, “We didn’t want our Indian audiences to misinterpret the title ‘Heaven on Earth’ to be an English film. Hence we changed the film’s name to ‘Videsh’ as this would connect well with the Indian audiences.”

Let’s hope the movie rocks in India too, the way it has rocked abroad.
