Strong contenders for the best male and female supporting actors for the year 2008

After listing the stars for the best actor and actress we now come up with our list of the strongest contenders for the best supporting role category for the year 2008. They are:

Wallpaper featuring Anil Kapoor in Tashan (5).jpgAnil Kapoor –Race-An Abbas Mastaan fast paced action thriller where Anil Kapoor provides some much needed comic relief in the second half. He plays the role of RD, who keeps eating a different fruit each time. He simply rocks. Some of his dialogues are hilarious. Definitely a good choice.
The next strong contender would be,

Arjun Rampal at the 14th Lions Gold Awards (2).jpgArjun Rampal-Rock on- He delivers his finest performance to date. Watch him emote those tough emotional moments and also as a failed person in the latter parts and you’d realize that he has only grown with the passage of time. Superb is the word!

Abhishek Bachchan_s performance at the Unforgettable Tour at Los Angeles on 27th July 2008.JPGAbhishekh Bachchan-Sarkar Raj – in spite of being cast opposite the finest actor of this country, he happens to excel in every sequence. This time, the father and son go neck to neck as far as acting honors go. He plays the role of an arrogant, disrespectful son. His quiet demeanor goes with the sudden bursts of anger. His performance again was very different and he proved his versatility.

The entire film as if belongs to him. He’s the lifeline of this project and his performance will be loved by elite and masses, both. Even though the film dint do well, Akki’s performance was appreciated.

Sonu Sood in still from the movie Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi (4).jpgSonu Sood- Jodhaa Akbar- the actor, who plays Jodha’s protective brother Sujamal, strongly resembles the young Amitabh – the moustached Amitabh of Reshma aur Shera. He gave a fantastic performance.

Now the list of the actresses in this category would be,

Kangana Ranaut in Still from Fashion (2).JPGKangana Ranaut– Fashion- plays the role of a top model. Has done a great job portraying her complex character. Viewers sympathize with her when she plays the mentally disturbed character. Even though her role is not as lengthy as that of Priyanka, but still she manages to give an awesome performance. Her confidence is excellent and her overall performance deserves an applaud.

Shahana Goswami at Hawaiian Shack Bash on 4th September 2008 (5).JPGShahana Goswami – Rock on- she plays the role of Arjun Rampal’s nagging wife. A talent to watch out for. Her performance is one of the most difficult ones for a newcomer and the confidence with which she carries it deserves to be appreciated. Definitely a strong contender for the awards.

Bipasha Basu - IIFA 2007 Red Carpet & Show-17.jpgBipasha Basu– Bachna Ae Haseeno- A flick for the youth. It’s about how a guy ditches two of his girlfriends and is then ditched by the third one. Bipasha shares the best chemistry with Ranbir irrespective of their age-gap that doesn’t show onscreen. She happens to be the best in the lot.

Preity Zinta at The Unforgettable Tour in Sunset Marquis Hotel on July 24th 2008 (62).jpgPreity Zinta –Heroes- She plays the role of Salman’s widow. She comes up with the most touching act inducing a lump in your throat with her emotional outbursts. She looks perfect as a girl from Punjab. Her performance was appreciated by the viewers.

Divya Dutta at the premiere of Yaariyan (1).jpgDivya Dutta- U Me or Hum- A love story starring Kajol with hubby Ajay Devgan. Divya is paired with Sumeet Ragahvan and is said to have done a faboulous job.

So this is our nomination list which includes all the possible stars of good films in the supporting roles. Now whether they are commercial hits or not, the ones that take home the trophy will be the ones who made the cash registers ring the loudest. Wish them all luck.
