For singer Tulsi Kumar, music is more than a passion. She belongs to the family who own India’s Number One Music Company, T-Series and music runs in her veins. Her voice also ensures the fulfillment off a Late father’s desire to see his daughter emerge to be a singer of repute and regard in her own right.

Tulsi Kumar Wallpaper (3).jpgTulsi’s father, music mogul Gulshan Kumar, had always wanted his children to be passionate about music. While her brother Bhushan Kumar went on to take the reins of T-Series, Tulsi Kumar took the artistic route and pursues her passion with dedication and devotion to emerge into one of India’s best voices under the guidance of her mother Sudesh Kumari.

From the tender age of six, Tulsi Kumar trained in classical singing at the Suresh Wadkar Academy. From the last four years, she has been training with Pandit Vinod Mishra. This training has honed her skills and she went on to lend her voice to innumerable actors.

To gear up for that, the talented singer first lent her voice to as many as seven devotional albums, remix numbers and cover versions in order to explore the whole gamut of songs before getting into mainstream playback singing. Tulsi Kumar started her playback career with Janaab-e-Jaaniya for Himesh Reshammiya in the film Aksar, followed by Humko Deewana Kar Gaye in Tom Dick & Harry, Dil Diya Hai, Zindagi Rocks in Chup Chup Ke, Darling in Bhool Bhulaiyaa to name a few. She also lent her voice for the Hit Album Phir Bewafaai with Agam Kumar Nigam, where she has rendered two duets and one solo track.

In Karzzzz, Tulsi Kumar was the voice behind Tere Bin Chain Na Aave and Soniye Je Tere Naal, Love Mera Hit Hit in Billu Barber, Sufi Tere Pyar Mein in Jai Veeru and recently, Haafiz Khuda, Aaja Maahi and Kuchh Is Tarah in Tasveer 8X10.

With music by Monty Sharma and lyrics by Sameer, the album is one of the most awaited musical albums of 2009. The album has a set of very interesting songs – a peppy romantic album complete with a hip hop dance number, a sufi one, a Punjabi song — with all flavours on the romantic lines.

In her early twenties, Tulsi Kumar, who has to her credit innumerable stage performances, is an ardent fan of Lata Mangeshkar. Her favourite song is Tujhse Naaraz Nahin Zindagi from the movie Masoom.

Music directors also feel that Tulsi will soon follow the lines of Sunidhi Chauhan and Sreya Ghoshal. Says Annu Malik who gave Tulsi her break in Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye, “Tulsi has music in her veins. But she has never been vain and has always been careful so as to get work on merit and make her brother Bhushan proud. She works hard on every song and does riyaz everyday. And this reflects in her voice and her songs.” Himesh Reshammiya and Pritam acknowledge that Tulsi’s voice was “fresh and vibrant,” and therein lies the uniqueness.
