War Chhod Na Yaar”, director Faraz Haider’s attempt at a new genre – war comedy – has received “an average response” from the audience in its opening weekend, say trade experts. The film, which released Oct 11, witnessed some growth in its opening weekend.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that in three days of its release, the movie has seen “marginal growth”. Adarsh posted on Twitter:

‘War Chhod Na Yaar’ collected approximately Rs. 4.50 crore net in its opening weekend. On Friday (it earned) Rs.1.30 crore, Saturday Rs.1.50 crore, Sunday Rs.1.70 crore.

According to Prasanth Narayanan, director at AOPL Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. which has produced the film, the movie was made on a budget of Rs.14 crore. Released in 754 screens in India, the movie also hit screens in some parts of the Middle East and Malaysia. The makers are hopeful that the response to the film will improve over the week.

I think the movie will pick up in the coming days.

Narayanan told IANS.

However, Bollywood’s last big release – Abhinav Kashyap-directed “Besharam” – which was released Oct 2 has failed to evoke the desired response. Made on a budget of Rs.60 crore plus, “Besharam” crashed completely, said Adarsh.

It has collected approximately Rs.3.10 crore net in weekend two. Grand total is Rs.58.46 crore net. Flop.

A source from a leading multiplex chain also said that “Besharam” didn’t put up even an average performance.

Among other talks in Bollywood…

I was not offered the role, but if they (the makers) offer it to me, I would love to play it. It’s a very exciting character and I want to do a film on music… and nothing better than (a film on) Bhupen Hazarika’s life

… Irrfan Khan said. “Dhumuha: The Storm” is the title of the biopic which is being produced by Pooja Bhatt. It is jointly written by Kalpana Lajmi and Pooja’s father Mahesh Bhatt. Lajmi, who shared a passionate 40-year relationship with Hazarika, will direct the project.

Irrfan Khan says he will be happy to work with Pooja.

Whenever she offers me this role, I would jump on to it. However, the role has not been offered to me yet.

Hazarika was a poet, music composer, singer, actor, journalist, author and filmmaker. He pioneered Assam’s film industry and has been hailed as the uncrowned king of the northeast’s cultural world. Hazarika died in 2011, aged 85.

Subhash Ghai, who is launching new heroine Mishti in his next film “Kaanchi“, is now also on the lookout for a fresh item girl. He has launched a systematic search for a new face. The song is composed by Ismail Darbar and will be choreographed by Saroj Khan.
