We all have grown in awe and admiration for the woman who needs no introduction. Dr Kiran Bedi, popularly known as Crane Bedi has sought the purpose of life yet again after retirement. She is back into action with the second season of ‘Aapki Kachehri’.
On her Rail Yatra
My first yatra by local train has made me more sensitive. Every VIP Police officer, government servant or political leader should definitely travel by train. If one wants to improve their governance, they should travel at least once by local train. It will really make a difference, as you will have the first hand experience of commuter’s day-to-day problems.
Purpose of the show…
Mind clarity of the viewers is more important that anything on the show. When a person comes in the show with some expectations and does not reap what he expected, but understands his rights and realizes that his demands were unreasonable, is what I call resolving the case. Our success lies in directing people to the right path. As there are many other important issues like terrorism to be addressed by authority, these problems remains unresolved. So ‘Aapki Kachehri’ is the need of today that will evolve with time. Each case in the show is a model and viewers can learn from this forum.
On loop-holes in society…
Raising a small police station with few people in it is no resolution today. Earlier we use to live in join families that were regulated by grandparents. But the situation is not the same today. Hence the show becomes a movement as we deal with such non-cognizable issues.
Life after retirement…
Then I use to deal with cases that had criminal angle more and now it is more of social issues. Earlier we use to arrest people first and then counseling, but now reforming is done first. I have seen the sufferings when I was on the job, but I have realized abundance of domestic violence in this show. I am happy that zindagi kaam aa rahi hai abhi bhi, warna zindagi mein hai hi kya. Higher purpose of life is fulfilled through this show. Besides financial return, it has given me beyond it.
On educating law…
It is very important to educate children about their rights and responsibilities. It should be introduced in schools as part of their studies. Liberal arts have almost finished, as we focus more on technical education. It should not be taught from exam point-of-view, but as ethics. We should have citizenship education that deal with the rights of citizen.
