I think the reason it can slow developement is that the baby can get around while they are in a walker so there isn't as much of a need for them to do it on their own. Also the skill it takes for them to get around in a walker is very different to the things they have to learn to move around on their own so I guess it can confuse them

Hi,
Having read your article it left me thinking about Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

In the levels of basic needs, a person does not feel the second need until the demands of the first have been satisfied or the third until the second has been satisfied, and so on.

First basic needs are biological needs and they consist of oxygen, food, water, and a relatively constant body temperature.
Secondly we need to feel safe and secure.
Thirdly a sense of belonging until eventually we can reach our self actualisation.

In the words of Maslow:

“All of our basic needs are instinctual, equivalent of instincts in animals. Humans start with a very weak disposition that is then fashioned fully as the person grows. If the environment is right, people will grow straight and beautiful, actualizing the potentials they have inherited. If the environment is not ‘right’ (and mostly it is not) they will not grow tall and straight and beautiful.”

So by stunting, removing or lack of any of these basic needs then we will suffer from extreme distress.

Thank you
Regards

Interesting developments. everybody needs to know this. Drug companies would have you buying expensive cancer drugs, but this is something you can do for less than $4 a month.
