Film: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Director: Carlos Saldanha
Screenplay: Michael Burg
Rating: 3.5/5
It can be multiple of lands where dinosaurs still roam about freely or a place where we land up in another planet in the future. However, the particular land in the film resembles primeval jungle where the wilderness means waterfalls and lava falls. There is indirect lighting in this particular land and that sustains lush green vegetation.
With all friends back and together, the film is fun for the little ones. Scrat is there while Mammy Ellie waits to give birth and Diego is wondering whether he has got too soft and check out why Sid gets into trouble. There are some new characters in this Ice Age and that is ferocious T Rex and a rival for Scrat, the squirrel. The rival is Scratte, a saber-toothed squirrel. In this movie it is Sid and Sloth shown adopting three dinosaur eggs with a plan to raise the little babies. The land where they all stay together is named Pellucidar.
As the film proceeds we see the mother dinosaur come looking for her babies. She grabs her hatchlings and Sid as well and disappears under the surface and towards weird cluster of volcanoes. Now all the friends together give a chase with a united spirit. The mammoths Manny and Ellie, Diego the tiger who is saber-toothed and the possums Crash and Eddie began the chase. They also team up with Buck, the Weasel in the quest of the white Dinosaur. In Buck you will find an eye patch instead of a peg leg.
It is in the film of Ice Age you would find that tigers have also learnt to co-exist with so varied species. The chasing scenes encompass everything from dizzying falls to some very close shaves catapulting into sky. These shots are interesting unlike the monotonous chase scenes.
The film has created much less distracting, imaginary and superfluous dimension. The movie can also be nicely seen in 2-D and you can save few bucks as well. However if the children are taken to Carlos Saldanha’s film, then teachers should be prepared to answer weird questions that did dinosaurs really live in hothouse under glaciers and why Diego, the saber-toothed tiger is depressed?
Whatever be it, it is a solid 90 minutes of entertainment for the kids. And, Ice Age-Dawn of the Dinosaur is a massive improvement over its predecessor and is the best of the three films.
