If you had a love-potion, who would you make fall madly in love with you? Timothy, prone to escaping his dismal high school reality through dazzling musical daydreams, gets to answer that question in a very real way. After his eccentric teacher casts him as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, he stumbles upon a recipe hidden within the script to create the play’s magical, purple love-pansy. Armed with the pansy, Timothy’s fading spirit soars as he puckishly imposes a new reality by turning much of his narrow-minded town gay, beginning with the rugby-jock of his dreams. Ensnaring family, friends and enemies in this heart-wrenching chaos, Timothy forces them to walk a mile in his musical shoes. The course of true love never did run smooth, but by the end of this moving musical comedy of errors based on director Tom Gustafson’s prolific award-winning short film, Fairies, the bumpy ride comes to a heartfelt conclusion. With vibrant imagery, a first-rate ensemble cast and innovative music rivaling the best of pop/ rock and contemporary Broadway, Were the World Mine attempts to push modern gay cinema and musical film beyond expectation. The Stars in the Movie are Zelda Williams, Christian Stolte, Ricky Goldman, Tanner Cohen, Wendy Robie, Judy McLane, Nathaniel David Becker (more…)

WALL-E Movie Review

WALL-E is one of the best animated movies to be released in a very long time. At times it manages to be almost poetic and lyrically beautiful in its exploration of the all too familiar subject of love. As expected from Pixar Animation Studios, the movie is dazzlingly beautiful in its animation, but it’s also sublimely anchored in the central love story. The emotional arc of the story unfolds as gently as flower petals. (more…)

Journey to the Center of the Earth … deserves journey to multiplex
Most movies based on popular books buckle under the pressure and end up disappointing. But “Journey To The Centre Of the Earth” wears lightly the pressure of being built on the Jules Verne classic and delivers in a very understated way. Brendan Fraser, who has cemented his reputation as the action star with “The Mummy” series, leads the cast as they set out to the journey to the centre of the earth to uncover the mystery of the disappearance of his brother. The Mummy - Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

There have already been quite a few summer action blockbuster movies this year, and the “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” tries to sneak in and make an impact. It is not going to succeed. With “The Dark Knight” already getting incredible critical and box office success, any other movie following that one is doomed, at the best, to be mediocre. (more…)

10,000 BC: Flying terror birds, stampeding mammoths and the blue-eyed legend!

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

(Stills) The animal in man is like a primitive being that just waits to break free and take him into the deep dark dense jungles of a bygone epoch where the ruling spirit was survival of the fittest. Even it holds true today though the meaning of fitness has changed a lot for us, we still love the prehistoric fight for survival, the extinct animals, the intriguing myths and the illustrative legends. This is the very fact exploited by Roland Emmerich in 10,000 BC, a sure shot Apocalyptic success. Roland Emmerich agrees that he was influenced by One Million Years B.C. and Apocalypto but gives the credit to Robert E. Howard for his fictional work that inspired him to take us back to a harsh and primeval prehistoric age in quest of truth and courage. Making use of rampant digital imagery to recreate a beyond belief lost era of wilderness depicted in and out. (more…)
