The Hangover

The film, ‘The Hangover’ doesn’t throw up typical symptoms of regurgitation and headache; instead it is overtly a funny movie. Presented by the Warner Bros, this film is not about any mind boggling stuff. It does not convey any political or social message either.

The Hangover is a naïve film where three groomsmen go for a bachelor’s party at Vegas only to realize that they have lost the groom. But while the film is about searching the groom and the audience will have a great laugh at it as well. This is because the reason for the groom to be missing is least cared about. On the contrary everyone will enjoy a hearty laugh with the dialogues and even with the film settings, shots and scenes.

Directed by Todd Philips, this film unfolds with a bad news for the bride that her fiancé is missing and in no way can the wedding take place. The flashback happens. It is here that we come to know that her would-be fiancé Doug, role played by Justin Bartha was on his way to Las Vegas for his bachelor’s party. He was joined by his best buddies, schoolteacher Phil and the dentist Stu. There was also the girl’s brother Alan for the party along with them.

What happens next? After the scene of their road trip to Vegas, the next morning opens with Doug missing. The others wake up in a destroyed hotel room with broken teeth, a baby and a tiger in a state of utter surprise after a night of drinking with no memory of the yesterday night. As you gave the parking check the three men found a police car coming. They simply cannot figure out any reason for all that was happening with them and around them.

The rest of the movie revolves around the search for the missing groom. The long day of search included a visit to the wedding chapel, small fight with the Chinese mobster, emergency interview with a doctor and even a fight with Mike Tyson (assumable the tiger was his, that they have stolen last night).

The HangoverHowever, besides the riot of laughter in this movie, the film reflected another part where the trip to Vegas for the three men was kind of an emergency therapy for them as they seemed to have personality problems. The dentist was basically rigidly dominated in all respect by his girlfriend while the school teacher thinks little about stealing money for reason as small as a class trip. It’s hard to mention the problem of Alan and its better that one watches the film to find it. His performance was brilliant and sincere. Audience would simply love seeing this person with overabundance of zeal and energy.

Todd Phillip, the director, did really cut out the characters in a nice way. They seemed specifically funny and the dialogues were written with a detailed observation. In the film there are encounters with some weirdest characters in the search for Doug. The clues for the search included the emergency doctor, security tapes of Mike Tyson and a mattress.

Bottom line is that the movie reflects hilarious premise and has an ending that is rather conventional. Movie is rated R, essentially for the crude dialogue content that maybe appreciated by the young beer-loving crowds.
