Love Hurts is supposedly a romantic comedy and is a mediocre film, which you will forget quickly; in fact, it will slip out of your mind before the film ends. There is no great story least of all to support the sentimental title; Love Hurts, yes it does and almost everyone knows that but the movie not just hurts you but will eventually turn into a pain that you like be relieved off as soon as possible. The script required a lot of modification and the comedy literally suffers in this not so well written script. The film duration of 1 hour 30 minutes will add to your woes and sitting through such a long time with the pain will be quite an experience of a kind. Writer-director Barra Grant could have definitely made a better movie and is solely responsible for the film’s fate.

Moving to the story of the film, it goes like this- Richard Grant plays the role of a Ben who is a doctor, and his wife Amanda (Carrie–Anne Moss) is fed up of his peculiar behavior and soon ditches him. Ben is devastated and he mourns the relationship that is over and becomes a hard-core drinker who is constantly crying over the situation he is in and delving into those nostalgic moments remembering Amanda.

Ben’s son Justin (Johnny Pacar) comes to his rescue and gives some dating advice. Justin is a 17-year-old teenager and it is interesting to note that he is giving dating tips to his 40-year old father. Justin is always in the company of three friends and changes his father into a completely new man in terms to dressing, hairstyle and also dating women. Ben does everything possible under the sun to get back his wife; he dates a nurse and other average looking women.

The irritating factor is that one hairstyle transition in Ben gets women swooning for him, which actually is quite absurd and his drinking habit that starts once Amanda leaves him. And you will not sympathize nor feel sensitive about the situation with Ben’s family. Justin has girls lining up for him but will all of sudden goes bonkers over a Russian girl (Olga Fonda).

As far as the acting department goes Richard Grant has gone overboard trying to portray the role of a dejected husband, which looks absolutely unconvincing and Johnny Pacar is just about average. There are few laughs every now and then, in fact scattered in bits, nothing more. The sudden transition of Richard Grant’s role from a very ordinary guy to a playboy is quite unbelievable and you just don’t feel like accepting it whatsoever. Jenna Elfman looks quite lively as the nurse and Amanda’s best friend Camryn Manheim has done a commendable job in a few scenes.

All said and done the movie could have a been a better product and if at all the director had revised the script this could have been at least rated average rather than being ranked as a bad film. Hope Barra Grant comes up with a better film the next time around, all the best to her!

For people who are of the belief that the earth will be doomed on the 21^st December 2012 this is the movie to watch, which will give you a fair idea as to what is in store for all of us. Jokes apart the movie 2012 has all the elements to qualify to the league of films depicting the end of world. Director Roland Emmerich is back with large-scale destruction film after Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and Godzilla. Sony has blown out $250 million in producing the film and the movie released in 105 territories around the globe. The production company is expecting to make a huge turnover and why not? It has spent a handsome amount in marketing the film.

The movie is purely based on the end Mayan calendar, which signals the apocalypse predictions; the mass destruction combined with natural calamities is bound to bring an end to the world. The subject though revisited, it simply stirs so much curiosity and anxiety among people that it will surely draw crowds to the cinema halls and the fact that 2012 is almost round the corner it is all the more good for the film in terms of timing.

By now we know the film is about the D-day when the entire world will be blown away by nature’s fury. And the hero of the film Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) is all set to save his family from the disaster. Jackson is divorced and his wife Kate (Amanda Peet) and her children live with her boyfriend Gordon (Thomas McCarthy).

A human continuity organization has complete knowledge of the doomsday and they are taking steps to save humanity and other species that will be useful resources to mankind. The government is secretly planning to protect only the elite from the confirmed disaster. Then the movie runs through a series of utter destruction and Jackson has a narrow escape from the mayhem.

2012 is an ultimate disaster film with mind-blowing digitalized disaster scenes that look so real. The movie is thoroughly packed with disaster that runs for 158 minutes, which is the actual duration of the movie. So the audience will sit through some terrific and death defying moments in the film.

The audience are given what they have seen in the trailer and the movie rightfully keeps up to their expectations. And Emmerich has gone out of his way to build those illusions in a magnificent way and is made to look so real. John Cusack and Woody Harrelson are an added attraction and they have done a splendid job in the film.

Yes, the movie is definitely worth watching but it cannot be rated as an exclusive piece of creativity or for that matter does not even score to be the best movie of this year. Still the director has come up with a subject that is making a few people nervous and it is still fresh in people’s mind as the year 2012 is nearing. In fact if you give a serious thought to the end of world and all of us are going to die for sure if at all such an event occurs, it is actually quite a spine-chilling thought. Or should we think to “die another day”.

On the 11th of November, the Ghost actress turned 47 and Kutcher made it special by handing her the keys to a new Toyota Prius hybrid car.

OK! Magazine says that the beauty, who has adopted four children already and has two kids with her partner Brad Pitt has left for the Middle East to adopt a girl from Syria.

But her heartthrob partner Pitt is not very keen with this idea of Jolie.

“He has made it clear that six children are more than he can handle. The idea of one more seemed ludicrous”

But Angie is determined to carry out her wishes.

Well, it will be great if another unfortunate child gets lucky but let’s just hope that it doesn’t prove to be stressful for the Brad-Angie partnership and the other children.

50 Cent’s ex has said she’s been unlucky in love on the West Coast, where she lived while shooting her role in hit comedy ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’.

She recently relocated east and insists it has given her a chance to fight off potential suitors.

“There are a lot more guys here (New York). There’s nothing but broke actors and models in L.A., so I definitely like my selection of men here. At lease the gentlemen here will buy you a drink.”

Femalefirst.com has reported that Halle quite often saw her father attack her mother during her growing up years and it had an influence on her choice of partners. Her marriages to David Justice and Eric Benet weren’t happy at all.

She has said:

“My mother was a battered woman and that was my childhood for a good chunk of it. Early on in my life, I made choices, and I chose men that were abusive because that was what I knew growing up.”

Now she’s using her experiences to assist others who have suffered domestic violence and works closely with the Jenesse Center, a Los Angeles-based shelter, which provides support to such victims.

But she underwent therapy later in life and learned what to do if and when a relationship turned aggressive. The 43-year-old actress has now found contentment with model Gabriel Aubry, from whom she has a 19-month-old daughter Nahla.

At least she’s one of those who learns from mistakes and betters her life, which something in itself is very admirable.

She says that she almost quit music before finding fame with her debut album Come Away With Me, because working as a waitress was making her fat and miserable.

The 30 year old reveals while crediting her mother for guiding her well, “I’d gained weight -waiting tables, I was eating a lot of corn muffins and I didn’t know they were filled with butter. I felt fat, I felt gross. I called my mom crying and said I wanted to go back to Texas. But my mom said, you know, you’ve only been there six months; at least give it a full year.”

Well, must say her perseverance paid off well.

It’s reported that in a call to Lindsay’s father Michael Lohan, Muro said, “I am trying to save your daughter’s life every day. She is another mess, she’s no better than she was two years ago and she knows that. If I wasn’t around she would be in grave danger. I gave up everything, my boyfriend and my dog and my parents and my new place in LA, everything just so your daughter doesn’t kill herself”.

Muro also spoke of her worries about Lindsay’s relationship with on and off girlfriend Samantha Ronson, saying she was obsessed with the DJ but assured Michael that the actress has no other problems with addiction.

She added, “It’s an unhealthy relationship with Samantha because I don’t ever think she knew love before and this is what she thinks it is, maybe it is maybe it isn’t, I don’t know but it’s her only addiction right now.”

Michael too had been vocal about his fears for his daughter and had said, “I want my daughter off prescription medication. She never needed it in her life… I’m not going to watch my daughter die. Hate me now, but you love me more later because I’m gonna turn her life around.”

The singer-turned-designer already owns a fashion label and now she’s starting a modelling agency.

She has held talks with her manager Simon Fuller to set up a new business venture in New York. He was the manager of Spice Girls earlier and already has a 51 percent controlling stake in London agency Storm Models and wants to set up something similar in the US.

A source has said: “Simon knows that Victoria is very savvy when it comes to fashion. His first foray into fashion was to team up designer Roland Mouret and Victoria, which was a huge success. Victoria is a key asset to Simon and he wants her to take on a major role.”

Looks like this one sure is gonna be a posh agency.

Jenson Button is reunited with girlfriend Jessica Michibata ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and takes physio Mike Collier for a wakeboard session in Dubai.

Having secured the Formula One world title in awe-inspiring style less than a fortnight ago, Jenson Button arrived in Dubai determined to get some down time with his girlfriend, Jessica Michibata, after they were kept apart in Sao Paulo. With the final race of the season on the horizon Jenson has been preparing for this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with his trainer and taking stock of his phenomenal achievement with his closest friends.

Jenson’s pre race routine involves extensive physical training, which has become the stuff of folklore in the past couple of seasons. The tables were turned however when Jenson set a routine of his own for physio, Mike Collier, on a wakeboard off the Dubai beach. Jenson had been taking in a cruise of the marina with Jessica earlier in the morning when he came up with an endurance session with a twist.

“Mikey and I are each other’s task masters when we train back home on the bikes or on a run so I decided I’d throw him a curve ball and see how he got on with wakeboarding. As usual he could do with a bit more style but he looked pretty useful at it.” joked Jenson.

JB will now travel to Abu Dhabi for his first race since being crowned World Champion. The way in which he scythed through the field in Interlagos only 10 days ago should be a warning sign to the paddock that he’s not prepared to wait his turn behind slower cars or drivers. “Brazil was an incredible experience. It was a race where I had to fight for it and put in a championship winning performance and that’s what I did.” says Jenson: “Coming into the last race as World Champion is a special feeling and I’ll be fighting just as hard for the win here.”

The film The Men who stare at Goats is based on Jon Ronson’s novel and the most appealing factor of the film is the goats profile adorning the poster and the title that reads “More of this is true than you imagine”. Also the cast of the film that includes George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey contribute to the crowd pulling factors for the film.

The hilarious trailer of The men who stare at goats is well marketed and it hits bang right on target; the audience will definitely get excited to watch the film. The goat that stirs so much of curiosity will keep you wondering almost throughout the film; it appears in the second half of the film.

The director of the film Grant Heslov has the credit of co-writing the Oscar-nominated films Good Luck and Good Night and this is his first venture, as feature film director.

The story goes like this; Bob Wilton (McGregor) is a journalist who wants to prove his mettle to his wife who is on the verge of ditching him. Bob Wilton goes in search of a solid story all the way to Kuwait and eventually this journey takes to Iraq. And in the hotel, Bob gets to interview a member of New Earth Army Lyn Cassady (George Clooney).

The founder of this branch was Bill Django played by Jeff Bridges who invents this branch to find innovative ways of fighting rather techniques of psychic fighting. The member from this branch would visualize the prisoners’ cell and spy the enemies with their spirits. The members do not attack the enemies physically, but it is through all the mental mumbo jumbo. And not to forget the goat, which the member sit and stare until their heart stops! The members of this army branch were called the Jedi warriors.

Bill Django is a part of the flashbacks and Cassady narrates the story about New Earth Army and how he was trained under Django to become a Jedi warrior. So the whole movie is see through a Cassady’s narration of the Jedi warriors and he tells Wilton about they used the psychic powers to get into the enemies’ territory. Well, if you want to believe in paranormal powers watch the movie for the funny side of it.

Clooney and Jeff Bridges are the funny duo and they have done good job as Jedi warriors. Bridges plays the brilliant role as the head of the NEA where yoga, drugs, dance etc are part of the training. The branch was supposedly existed in the 80’s can you eat that?

Clooney is good as an ex-Jedi warrior and the McGregor has also done a commendable job as a aspiring journalist who got his hands on the most intriguing news story. Kevin Spacey who plays the role of Hooper has also  done a good job. The movie though funny and entertaining it lacks a well-defined plot but never mind it is still a good movie to watch.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration if the film Untitled were rated as one of the best movies of the year. The best art of the film is that it gives meaning or art form to the most unusual of music, which is created by kicking a bucket with chains or any noise in the surrounding is wrapped as music. A real music lover or connoisseur of art would not accept this.

The best of art galleries and best of music albums has the weirdest of piece of art are recognised to be masterpieces. Probably the movie mocks at such irony or glorifies the ‘different’ art is what you cannot identify in the film. Nevertheless the movie conveys through its lead character the difference between music and noise. Adrian Jacobs (Adam Goldberg) who is in the lead role tells us that ‘noise is unwanted and art is what want to see or hear’, which is clear-cut; art is what one perceives it to be.

Adrian is an unsuccessful musician and hardly gets very few audiences for his concerts and his brother Josh (Eion Bailey) is a successful painter. The two brothers though are creative people their commercial success is poles apart. Josh’ paintings sell like hot cakes; hospitals and hotels buy loads of his paintings but he is not quite contented with this fame, Josh desires for critical acclaim.

Adrian’s situation is just the opposite there are hardly anyone who appreciate his music and that keeps him unhappy most of the times. The best part is Adrian chases away those few people who genuinely appreciate his music. But Adrian seems to be comfortable in his dejected state and he believes that people around him should also feel exactly the way he feels. Until one day he meets Madeline Gray (Marley Shelton) who is the owner of the art gallery and through whom Josh sells his paintings. Josh invites Madeline to attend his brother’s concert and she likes Adrian’s music instantaneously.

The film Untitled gets tremendous strength and support form its actors who have done a remarkable job. Jonathan Parker the director of the film has done commendable job with direction and characterisation. Marley Shelton has give an outstanding performance and Goldberg has played his role to perfection rather he has displayed a natural and honest performance. David Land has given the original score, which is skilfully done.

The movie is for audience who have some kind of culture interest. It conveys the message that any form of art brings out the real person captured within you rather it is a reflection of oneself. The connection between art and life is well portrayed in Untitled. The main characters finally find the balance they were actually looking for. The film encompasses almost all areas of culture, which makes it that much more interesting.

The movie focuses on the funny side of life and art. And it is an honest attempt to say the least and you will love the realism portrayed with some humour sprinkled on it.

The movie Disney’s A Christmas Carol is animation treat this season and writer director Robert Zemeckis has yet again proved his skill to make a 3D movie with precision.

The Oscar-wining director has been successful in evolving animated characters that look so close to humans and this is where Zemeckis technical craftsmanship makes such a huge difference. The fact that the animated characters are so similar to real human characters makes it more believable. Robert Zemeckis has beautifully adapted Charles Dickens’ timeless classic A Christmas Carol into a well-directed animation.

Disney’s A Christmas Carol gains an edge over his previous two animations; The Polar Express and Beowulf and that is mostly because the origin of the story is from an unforgettable classic. Charles Dickens penned this story in 1838 and it has luckily got into the right hands else there are movie makers who have the potential of creating rubbish out of classics.

The story is about Ebeneezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey renders the voice over for Scrooge’s character) who is a wealthy old miser who has not celebrated the Christmas Eve for seven consecutive years and with that many among audience will go into nostalgic moments trying to remember the story narrated by Dickens. Yes most of them will be familiar with the tale of Ebeneezer Scrooge. But this is not to draw comparisons between the classical tale and the contemporary motion picture, as both have their share of genius.

Anyways coming back to story, Scrooge loathes Christmas and has not been celebrating it since his partner Jacob Marley’s death. Marley’s ghost appears and warns Scrooge about the three ghosts who will visit him soon. Well the spirits appear and remind Scrooge of past Christmas Eves and also show the people around who are celebrating the eve with so much fun. The three ghosts cautions Scrooge of the events that are likely to take place in the future Christmas Eves if he does not mend his ways.

A Christmas Carol

Scrooge’s past life shows that he was a happy-go-lucky guy who had been hard working and just like any normal youngster goes crazy about Belle, and when she confronts him about his present behaviour, Scrooge fails to explain and the audience does not get a clear picture of Scrooge’ transition. Scrooge’s drastic change in behaviour has not been explained in the movie.

The movie undoubtedly is a good adaptation of Dickens’ story and the animation thoroughly supports the story and characters of the film. The other biggest highlight of the film is Jim Carrey’s voice over; he has rendered his voice to the three ghosts and the ghost of the future Christmas too, which makes the characters much more interesting.

The film is not all in all a children’s film there are certain spooky scenes that will scare the kids may be we can rate it under PG. The movie is a nice Christmas gift for movie lovers and it has definitely got the entertainment factor that will draw audiences.
