New York, I love You
The project of Cities We Love was started three years ago and the first city was Paris, je t’aime’. Now it is New York, I Love You which is a compilation of twelve different stories directed by internationally recognized directors.
The movie was made with some strict schedule and rules; each story had to be shot in two days with time duration of eight minutes each and the editing process should not exceed a week. The audience might be of the idea that they are in for a treat with 12 different stories in one single movie. It is one film with different love stories, which is set in the backdrop of the New York.
As for the movie itself it is not quite up to the mark; there is no confusion or chaos, as the movie is a collection of many stories. But the audience might find it difficult to judge the film entirely or they might end up liking one or two stories. And there are a section of people wondering if eight minute is sufficient to tell a story.
Each love story does not throw in surprise ending, which is a good thing. The movie as a whole might not make such a huge impact on the audience but the audience has a choice; if they did not like one story, in a matter of a few minutes there is a new story coming up with different title and director. With this regard the movie surely has variety.

Julie Christie, Shia LaBeouf in New York, I Love You
Jiang Wen has directed the first story in New York, I love You that features actors Hayden Christensen and Andy Gracia who plays Rachel Bilson, which reminds you of O Henry’s short stories. Then you have another story directed by Yvan Attal starring Maggie Q and Ethan Hawke, which again give a twist in the tale very similar to O Henry stories.
There are couple of stories that are interesting; Joshua Marston has directed one story with actors Eli Wallach and Cloris Leachman who play elderly couple and have spent years of marital life together and their conversations are so reminiscent of the regular couples who are married for many years. This story is definitely one to watch out for.
There is another story directed by Mira Nair with actors Irrfan Khan and Natalite Portman who plays the role of Jewish woman and she is a bride-to-be is fancying about a diamond merchant played by Irrfan Khan with whom she shares a secret that she will chop her hair on the day of her marriage and Khan develops a liking for beautiful hair.
The movie on the whole can be watched, as it is supported by a few good stories that are worth appreciating. But just because the movie has a variety of stories do not get carried away or star expecting too much out of the film, some might even think that it is a continuous surprise package of lovely stories coming every few minutes. Yes stories keep emerging but all are not good, else if you still want to check out some variety you can do so, as there is no harm at least.
