Halle opens up about abusive relationships
Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry has publicly talked about her liking for ‘abusive men’.
Femalefirst.com has reported that Halle quite often saw her father attack her mother during her growing up years and it had an influence on her choice of partners. Her marriages to David Justice and Eric Benet weren’t happy at all.
She has said:
“My mother was a battered woman and that was my childhood for a good chunk of it. Early on in my life, I made choices, and I chose men that were abusive because that was what I knew growing up.”
Now she’s using her experiences to assist others who have suffered domestic violence and works closely with the Jenesse Center, a Los Angeles-based shelter, which provides support to such victims.
But she underwent therapy later in life and learned what to do if and when a relationship turned aggressive. The 43-year-old actress has now found contentment with model Gabriel Aubry, from whom she has a 19-month-old daughter Nahla.
At least she’s one of those who learns from mistakes and betters her life, which something in itself is very admirable.
