Tunisian fans ignore Ewan McGregor

London, Sep 16 (IANS) “Star Wars” actor Ewan McGregor was surprised when he was ignored by fans in Tunisia, especially at a spot where the first “Star Wars” movie had been shot. Contactmusic.com reports that McGregor, who played Obi Wan-Kenobi in the three “Star Wars” prequels, was afraid that he would be mobbed when he visited a tourist attraction in Tunisia, where director George Lucas had filmed some important scenes of first “Star Wars” movie.

Although McGregor showed up in a T-Shirt with his name on the back, sci-fi fans refused to believe that the actor would just show up on a bike. So they left him alone.

He said: “We went to the location used in the original ‘Star Wars’, where we meet Luke Sky-walker and he buys R2-D2 and C-3PO and does them up in the oil bath. It has been preserved as a tourist attraction. Now, who goes to an out-of-the-way place like that but a hardcore ‘Star Wars’ fan?

“Anyway, we (MCGregor and fellow Long Way Down adventurer Charley Boorman) drive up and I’m standing next to my face on a poster and I’m wearing a jersey that says `McGregor’ on the back… and nobody looked twice. It was quite hilarious, actually.”
