A Chinese engineer was shot dead and another wounded when a group of armed men attacked an oil field in South Kordofan province of southern Sudan, Xinhua reported Monday.
The assailants opened fire at workers in the oil field, belonging to a Chinese oil company, late Wednesday night killing a Chinese engineer and wounding another.
A diplomat at the Chinese embassy in Khartoum, who asked not to be named, said that as per available information, the attack was believed to be an isolated incident.
The identity of the gunmen remained unknown. The police have launched an investigation.
